Well it looks like the cache thread has fallen off the site. I looked at all the pages and it is no where to be found. So here is a new one I guess.

Now that I am jobless, I am hoping to get a couple of caches hid. Wish I could get the one part of my puzzle cache in my yard dug out. It is under a big ice pile. Oh well, hopefully it will all melt soon.
Has anyone been out caching since it has been a little nice out? I would love to go, but been busy trying to get some other things done.

I have to honestly say, this time of year I have totally no interest.  Spring will mean soccer, and then summer I will start again.

STEVE..CAN WE HAVE OUR OLD POST BACK????  I had the old one book=marked..and it is saying it's gone.  Hopefully he can pull it up from his archives so we can keep it going for a few more years.

If he can't guess we will have to start over. Hate to see all those posts go away. It was one of the biggest topics here.

I sent a message to Steve. He said that the old thread is lost for good. Looks like we are starting over.

The event count is up to 50 -55 people so far. It is going to be a packed house...lol
I am looking for donations for door prizes if anyone is interested. Just bring whatever you want to donate to the event.

You can just bring yourself. Nothing special, just a meet, greet, and eat. You can order food off the menu there. Travel Bugs can be dropped off and traded. Geocoins can be brought to be dropped off or discovered.

I sent Steve a PM telling him what you pretty much said and thanked him for the offer. It would not be so bad if there were more here that cached that could help keep the forum going.

I have a file on my comp that I am keeping track of how many are coming. I will just leave yours at 4 to leave a little room for error so to say.

Geocaching is hard to describe in a few words, but here is a short description from www.geocaching.com:

"Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment."

The great part of this is that you can get to see some great scenery in the various cache locations, or learn more about historical sites, or just help to clean up the environment if you subscribe to the "cache in, garbage out" philosophy.  There are caches all over the world, and lots of them just in our small corner of it.  I love it, and wish I had more time to put into it...

Maybe sometime this summer you can go with us and we'll show you.  This type of weather makes me want to sit by the woodburner with a good book, not go out and play...brrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Basically it is a high tech Hide & Seek game played with hand held GPS units and containers hidden all over for you to find.

I still want to go caching even though there is snow. That makes it even more of a challenge.

Check out http://www.geocaching.com even though the site is a little hard to follow. The best explanation is at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geocaching

yeah that would be fun.  I get the concept, but how do you know where to look?  Are they programmed into the gps already?  Or do you get the locations online?

Sounds interesting
