I am relaying the following on behalf of a friend, it's a shame people have to act like this.

Unfortunately I was the victim of road rage on a Saturday that has left me embarrassed and very disturbed. I pulled into the parking lot at Perkins and a man pulled directly in front of me in the Long John Silvers parking lot. He exited his car to come over to mine, punched on my window and yelled every nasty profanity he could think of at me. This was all because I supposedly pulled in front of him which I did not recall. I had my 5 year old daughter with me and she was sitting in the back seat the whole time this was happening. I can only imagine what was going through her head. He was yelling at me and telling me that I was not thinking about my child all the while disrespecting myself and my child by his actions and words. I could not believe someone could get so angry over something that may or may not have happened and did not cause anyone to get hurt. I believe as human beings we should think before we speak and act when we are in the presence of children. This has saddened my heart to know that there are people out there that feel this is the way to resolve issues. There is a time and a place to confront people and I believe he handled this situation completely wrong! I also would like to take the opportunity to thank the gentleman who stood up in my defense ant told this person to go away. I was so shaken up by this and worried about my child that I did not take the time and tell him thank you. I think people should be more respectful of our children. People like him are why they end up thinking that being angry and violent towards others is okay.

Harrisburg, Pa., Sept.7 --- Pennsylvania is declaring open season on poachers. Game commission executive director Carl Roe said new penalties took effect Tuesday that will reverse the state's reputation as a haven for chronic poachers. Under the new rules, poachers face heavier fines and the possibility of jail time. Roe said the state previously considered big game poaching the legal equivalent of a traffic ticket. Now they could face a criminal court. Roe said the poaching of a single deer now carries a minimum fine of $1,000 and could result up to 90 days in jail and a five -year hunting license revocation. Heavier penalties including jail terms up to three years are possible for repeat offenders.

Cobb County, Ga. Sept.7 --- A gas price war broke out Monday between two Powder Springs gas stations. The Shell and Marathon stations in the 4100 block of Marietta Street radically dropped prices. At one point, regular unleaded was selling for just over 30 cents a gallon. That made for a line of cars that spilled into the street. "It seems pretty good. It's bringing in a lot of revenue...at least for the gas station. We've got music going, hamburgers, chicken. I think it's pretty good," said one customer. It's the second time in recent months that a gas price war has broken out between the two stations. http://www.wsbtv.com

Tampa Bay,Florida --- It was the eight inning of last Wednesday's Tampa Bay Rays - Toronto Blue Jays game when Amelia Almoscatella had her glove ready along the first base line. But, when a foul ball flew her way, she took it on the chin. Embarrassed, but determined, Amelia settled in, and unbelieveably , a second foul ball was hit toward her. This time, she caught it. And then, she caught a third foul in the same inning. Fans and players applauded her glove work. Almoscatella, a lifelong baseball fan, appeared on "The Early Show" with her three hard-won souvenirs - and a red, bruised spot on her chin. Almoscatella said she was ready for the first ball, but it took a "bad hop," when the ball bounced up at her. The ball bounced back onto the field, but Almoscatella got the coveted ball back from George Hendrick, the Rays' first-base coach. Almoscatella said, "He(came) over and said, 'Next time you need to catch it with the glove, not your face!" ' Following the incident, she said she was asked if she was OK by security and a paramedic. She explained, "They thought, actually, I'd probably lost some teeth. But I was fine. Nothing bleeding. So I told them, I said, "Look, I'll talk to you later, I'll give you any report you want, I'm OK, but I got to watch for the next ball." ' And,it turned out, the one after that. To hear more from Almoscatella on her lucky catches at the game and to see a special surprise she received from the Rays, click on the video below: http://www.cbsnews.com

Steve Walker, of Devon and Cornwall police, described the crash as "a tragic accident," the BBC reported. Police said they used photographs and You Tube footage to identify Edwards and are investigating whether the bale may have fallen from a tractor working on farmland near the road. Edwards, who played with the band between 1972 and 1975, is believed to have swerved into another vehicle as the bale crushed his vehicle. ELO eventually sold more than 50 million records worldwide. Britian's Mirror newspaper reported that Edwards quit the band at the height of its fame to become a Buddhist. From entertainment page http://www.msnbc.com

Nurse Meets Dying Father After 41 Years

Bronx,N.Y. ----Wanda Rodrigguez never knew her father growing up. Victor Peraza split from her mother just months after she was born and was never a part of their lives. By chance, the New York nurse was reunited with her dad some 41 years after she last laid eyes on him as an infant. But sadly, just as Rodriguez is getting to know her father and catch up on lost years, cancer threatens to take Peraza away from her again. Rodriguez, assistant head nurse at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx,N.Y., was discussing new admissions with a doctor Aug.25 when she heard her long-lost father's name. And even though she had not seen so much as a photo of her dad growing up, she knew the name. She made a bee-line for the patient's bed. "I walked into the room and he looked at me and I saw his light eyes and I kind of knew at that moment," Rodriguez told TODAY's Lester Holt on Monday. "I just wanted to make sure, so I asked him if he had any children, and he said, 'I have a daughter named Gina and a daughter named Wanda.' "The minute I heard I just burst into tears and ran out of the room," Rodriguez said, choked up with emotion as she related the story. Through her tears, Rodriguez confided to a doctor in the hospital hallway she believed she had just met her dad after 41 years apart. The doctor teared up, too, but also informed her that Peraza needed to be moved to another unit because hospital staff aren't allowed to care for family members. Still, Rodriguez wasn't going to let a long waited-for opportunity go to waste. "I came back in [to his room] after I was a little calmer, looked at him and said, "Hi, I'm Wanda, I'm your daughter.' He looked right at me and said, 'I know, I knowyou're my daughter. I knew knew that when you walked into the room-- I said, "That's my daughter Wanda!'" Within minutes, all the pain and heartache Rodriguez had felt about having an absentee father growing up was quickly washed away by themagic of the moment. "It was [initially] an awkward moment," she told Holt. "[But] I held his hand, and within five minutes I just embraced him and gave him the biggest kiss because I was so happy." Rodriguez learned that father Victor had been living in the same borough of New York City she was raised in for most of his life. A teen dad, Peraza divorced Wanda's mother, leaving her to raise Wanda andher older sister Gina as a single mom. He never remarried, had recently relocated to Astoria, Queens, and had been in and out of hospitals since he was diagnosed with terminal cancer a year ago. It was an amazing stroke of luck that father and daughter were reunited. That he ended up at Calvary Hospital was coincidence enough, but out of seven units he could have been assigned to at Calvary, he ended up in his daughter's. Rodriguez broke into tears when Holt asked her whether it is bittersweet to finally meet her father at a time when he is dying of cancer. "I'm just cherishing every moment with him, because I know that I don't have much time left," she said. "It's very sad we're meeting under these circumstances, he said that to someone the other day. "What a moment to have met my daughter in this way, but how sad it is that I'm meeting her now that I'm dying," Rodriguez quoted Peraza as saying. Rodriguez is making the most of the time she has left with her dad. She typically arrives at the hospital several hours before her work shift starts to spend time with him, and often spends several hours after work at his bedside. She resists the notion to browbeat Peraza for leaving the family and staying out of their lives for more than 40 years. "Of course I'm curious, but I try not to ask him questions that I really don't care to know the answers about," she said. But guilt still weighs heavy on Peraza, Rodriguez told the New York Post. "He keeps begging me for forgiveness and says, 'I wasn't a good father,' " she said. "And I tell him, 'The past is the past. You can't change the past. I love you.'" Rodriguez told Holt she prefers to question him on other matters, to find out how far the apple falls from the tree. Turns out, it dosen't fall far at all. "I found out that he has a love for pets, he loves dogs," she said. "I happen to love dogs. He loves classical music, which I do as well. I'm very much like him, I think I've realized in the past few days. I'm very much like my dad and I'm glad I've had the opportunity to find that out." Rod riguez's own three children have quickly bonded with their grandfather as well, enjoying combing their grandfather's hair and posing for cherished familyphotos. Sister Gina has also visited Peraza and brought along her children. Even their mother has visited his bedside. Peraza turns 61 in a week, and Wanda is hoping he survives so they can celebrate. But whatever his fate, Rodriguez says she and her father as well are happy they've gotten the chance to share a little time together. "He's at peace," Rodriguez told the New York Post. "He's had closure. He said, 'Wanda, I've met you. I'm OK. I'm ready to die." http://www.msnbc.com

Altoona,Sept.7 ---- Bill Steiner became a hero at just 5 years old after recusing his 2-year-old brother and grandparents after an accident last month. Bill; his brother, Bobby; and their paternal grandparents were traveling on Old Route 220 on their way to the Martinsburg Airport on Aug.19 to see Army bombers on display when Bill's grandmother Linda Steiner,65, glanced over her shoulder to check on the children. She lost control of the truck, which veered off the road, struck a tree and went airborne, landing on the roof. Bill's grandparents were stuck inside the truck with Bobby, who was crying in the backseat, until Bill unbuckled his seat belt and helped him to safety. "I told my grandmom I was going to get help," Bill said. Bill unbuckled Bobby from the back seat and helped him out of the truck to safety. He told his brother to wait by a tree while he ran to a house in the area to get help. "I told the man in the garage that the truck was upside down," Bill said. Linda was trapped in the driver's seat for about 10 minutes until the police and ambulance arrived on the scene. Firemen had to cut down a tree blocking the driver side door in order to get Linda and her husband, Frank, out of the truck, Linda said. After firemen removed the driver side door, the couple crawled out of the vehicle. Linda suffered broken ribs and spent three days in the trauma center at the Altoona Hospital. Frank was checked out in the emergency room. "I was more worried about my grandchildren," Linda said. "The cops said we were lucky to get out alive." The passenger door, where Frank was sitting, was smashed in by a tree. He suffered bruises and scratches from the accident, and he couldn't recall most of what happened. "It happened so fast," he said. Bill and Bobby's mother, Cheryl Steiner of Hollidaysburg, was working at her pet grooming shop, Cheryl's Critter Cuts in Frankstown, when she received a phone call from Blair County 911 telling her about the accident. She quickly canceled her appointments and closed up shop for the day. "It was heart-wrenching," Steiner said. "My heart sunk to the bottom of my feet." Cheryl said the family learned a lesson. She said Bill would now not get inside of anyone's car unless everyone is wearing a seat belt and there are child seats for him and his brother. Linda said the truck was totaled but she was grateful that her family made it out safe. "Billy and Bobby were both heros," Linda said. From Altoona Mirrow.

Buffalo, New York, Sept.5 ---Va. Woman Devours 181 Chicken Wings in NY Contest. The Black Widow of eating contests gobbled up nearly 181 chicken wings in 12 minutes, devouring the national championship record in Buffalo on Sunday. "I'm so happy!" said Sonya Thomas, who ate 4.86 pounds of chicken wings to win the contest, besting world eating marvel Joey Chestnut at the ninth annual National Buffalo Wing Festival. Buffalo, about 300 miles northwest of New York, is said to be the birthplace of the wings, typically fried and covered in tangy vinegar and hot sauce. Chestnut, America's No.1 professional eater, was favored to win Sunday's competition. He came in second after eating 169 chicken wings, or 4.55 pounds. This was the first time Thomas, of Alexandria ,Va., and Chestnut, of San Jose, Calif., faced off in a chicken wing eating contest. They went at it " neck and neck," said Drew Cerza, the founder of the festival, which was inspired by the 2001 Bill Murray comedy "Osmosis Jones," about a complusive eater. "They pushed each other really hard," Cerza said. "Joey is so strong. He's got great jaw strenght. But Sonya's so fast with the hand." Thomas, who's 5 feet tall and weights 105 pounds, calls herself the Black Widow because she often defeats bigger male competitors - Chestnut is 6-foot-2 and weights 230 pounds - in eating contests. She set the previous wings record in 2005, when she ate 174 in 12 minutes. She also previously set eating records for oysters, hard-boiled eggs, cheesecake and jalapeno peppers. She won her first competitive eating event in 2003. The sprightly 43-year-old said she owed Sunday's triumph to her fancy finger work. "Sometimes if I try to chew too much I slow down," She said. "I used my hands more than the mouth." During the public contest, in front of thousands of people, she twirled the wings in her small fingers while quickly tearing off the meat with her teeth and lips. Her checks were covered in a sheen of orange Buffalo sauce by the end. But she said she was still hungry afterward, calling the wings "an appetizer." About an hour later, she made a guest appearance in the Ridiculously Hot Buffalo Wing Eating Contest and ate 20 more. "The hottest wings!" she said. "I had to drink a lot of water."

Helena,Mont. ---- General rule of thumb: when looking to buy marijuana, don't text the sheriff. Authorities say a Helena teen sent out a text message last week in search of pot, but instead of contacting the drug dealer, he hit a wrong number and inadvertently sent the message to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton. The text read, "Hey Dawg, do you have a $20 I can buy right now?" Dutton told the Helena Independent Record he initially thought it was a joke, but he quickly realized it was a real request for drugs. He responded to the text, and a detective pretending to be the dealer organized a meeting with the boy last Wednesday. "The kids knew that they were going to be at a particular store at a particular time,"Dutton told The Associated Press. The detective spotted two teenage boys and a man at the store and called the phone number three times to make sure he had the right person. Dutton said when the detective showed the teens his badge, their faces turned white and their knees began to wobble. One of the boys even fainted. The man in the group was the father of one of the teens and was "unaware of what was going on," Dutton said. No citations were issued after the parents of the boys, who were 15 and 16, got involved. "Trying to buy drugs is a crime, but it's probably worse that they had to face their parents," Dutton said

But the Afghan Central Bank has pulled in funds from abroad, including $300 MILLION that had been held in the United States Federal Reserve Bank, to have money on hand to guarantee the bank’s liquidity, American officials said.

A small team of advisers from the United States Treasury Department was in Kabul providing technical assistance, but American officials said no United States funds would be involved in the effort to rescue the bank.

* What am I missing here?

They just said it's from our US Federal Reserve Bank...then they said no US Funds would be used. HUH?

Kent,Ohio --- A puppy is being hailed as a hero after saving her best friend this week from a swarm of bees. Nine-year-old Richie Bragg was in his yard Sunday with his 18-week-old puppy, Pinky, when he noticed the bees. He was stung several times before Pinky came running and distracted the swarm enough that Richie could run to the house. "She was yelping when she got to the door," the boy said. "And my grandma said, 'Come inside. And shut the door before Pinky gets inside with all those bees.'" "She was swollen," Richie said. "You could actually see little bumps on her still, right here, where some of the bee stings were." The boy's mother rushed Pinky to an animal hospital, where Dr. Jaime Marietti found more than 40 bee stings covering the dog's body. Pinky's eyes were swollen shut, and the rest of her was so swollen, the puffiness added a few pounds to her weight. "Boxers, especially, tend to be a little bit more allergic to bees," Marietti said. "However, she had an anaphylactic reaction, because even when we were putting an IV catheter in her, we were trying to, you know, get her through this. She never even looked at us. She never lifted her head up. She didn't pay attention to anything." Both Pinky and Richie have fully recovered . Richie was stung a few times, but Pinky kept a bad situation from getting worse. "Pinky really saved my life," Richie said.

? about Sex Offenders?

Is it against policy to have a bus stop in front of a Registered sex offender's house? I say that because i walk my child up the street to meet the bus and my neighbor must have complained for there to be a stop near her house (she babysits alot of kids) and it is 3 houses down from her in front of an offenders house.

To be honest, i dont like the idea that the bus company can be manipulated into making a special stop for one person. Our bus stop is only about 6 houses up the other way..

Pearl Harbor Marks 65th Anniversary of WWII's End

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii,Sept.2 ---- Veterans Attend Ceremony on USS Missouri, the Ship Where the Japanese Formally Surrendered in 1945. Don Fosburg recalled friends and family killed in World War II as he marked the 65th anniversary of the end of the conflict on Thursday. "You start thinking about all the guys who didn't make it. I had a cousin who was on Bataan and didn't survive. His brother was blown up off the coast of Africa," said the 84-year-old, who was a radioman aboard the USS Missouri during the war. "You start to thinking about the guys that you knew. You can't help but do that. And maybe you think you're pretty lucky," said Fosburg, a retired insurance broker from Whittier,Calif. Fosburg returned to the Missouri--now a museum moored in Pearl Harbor--for a ceremony commemorating 6½ decades since Japan formally signed papers on board the battleship when it was anchored in Tokyo Bay on Sept.2,1945. He remembered the mood being calmer than some two weeks before that occasion, on the night of Aug.15, when sailors cheered and hollered after a fellow radioman got word Japan had agreed to unconditionally surrender. "He woke me up: 'They've accepted the surrender. The war is over!' Then it went through the ship, and it was quite a bit of celebration," Fosburg said. "It woke everybody up." Veterans Secretary Eric Shinseki, who delivered the keynote address, hailed the sacrifices of those who fought on Pacfic atolls, European forest and manned supply depots and refueling stations. "All great leaders know the mightiest undertakings succeed because of the strength and courage, determination and sacrifice, of men and women whose names will never be recorded in history books or memorialized in museums," said Shinseki,a retired four-star general. The Missouri today sits just behind the USS Arizona, which sank in the Japanese attack that pushed the U.S. into war in 1941. Sen. Daniel Inouye, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism in Italy, told the crowd the two ships are the bookends of World War II. The Arizona represents the sacrifice and resilient spirit of the American people, while the Missouri speaks of America's triumphant victory, he said. "They send a strong message to our allies, while cautioning potential enemies, that we can endure hardships, that we persevere and, yes, we will emerge victorious," Inouye said. The "Mighty Mo" was launched in 1944 and fought in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. It was decommissioned in 1955 but revived in the 1980s, after which it fired some of the first shots of the Gulf War in 1991. The battleship went into dry dock last year for three months of sanding and painting to remove rust that had built up on the ship's hull. The $18 million overhaul was its first in 17 years. One of the Missouri's wartime crew, 94-year-old Frank Borrell, said he was seeing his battleship for the last time. Borrell has been diagnosed with lung cancer and was told he has four months to live. "I told my wife, 'Before I die, I want to se my ship again," Borrell said. "This couldn't have been a better place for me to see it." The Beacon, N.Y., native, now retired to Orlando, Fla., came to Hawaii with the help of the Dream Foundation, a California-based nonprofit that grants wishes to adults facing life-threatening illnesses.
