BUDS Gardeners Meeting 9/7
The next meeting of the BUDS Gardeners will be held on Thursday, September 7 at 6:00 P.M. in the basement social hall of the First United Presbyterian Church at 43 West Scribner Avenue, DuBois.  Entry is through the red door at STREET level on West Scribner Ave. The public is invited. A light supper will be provided.

Plans for the annual picnic in September at Bilger’s Rocks will be discussed. A hypertufa workshop for September will be planned at the meeting.

The Monarch butterfly releases are continuing on a daily basis (weekends also) at Charlie’s Alternators at 12 N Franklin St, DuBois, at the tent. The time is 4:00 to 4:30 P.M. The public can hold and release tagged butterflies and be able to take pictures of the butterflies up close. To confirm a release date, call Cheryl Shenkle at 371-3322 or 590-9010.
The September program is titled “Sprouts for Strength – A Community Education Garden”.
A team of girls has been achieving their goals by teaching healthy nutrition classes to elementary-age children, helping kids grow their own mini-gardens, growing an impressive garden on Main Street in Brockway, harvesting vegetables, having a stand at the local Farmer's Market, and teaching canning and cooking classes.
In June 2014, five girls from Brookville and Brockway came together to identify issues that they cared about in their community and to find a way to make a positive difference.  The girls decided to tackle the issue of poor nutritional habits and find a way to promote healthier eating, primarily among families with elementary-age children.
The team expanded, research was conducted, community connections were made and by summer 2015, the "Sprouts for Strength" Community Education Garden project was well ahead of schedule.

For more information, contact BUDS Gardeners president Cheryl Shenkle at 371-3322, cshenkle@verizon.net, or go to the website at http://www.budsgardeners.com

2017 MAGICAL WORLD OF DANCING HORSES Dinner Show
at Beaver Run Equestrian Dance Theatre, Punxsutawney, Pa
Sept 22-23, 2017
It’s lights, camera, action! And like no other horse event you’ve ever seen. It’s all costumed, choreographed to the exact timing of the music and most of all Dianne Olds Rossi imagination.
"Love of Horses Translates into a Moving Work of Art."
The golden stallion explodes into the arena.....as free as he was born ….hooves pounding against the ground as the music begins to play....sparkles of light glittering around him, the spotlights surrounding him as he stands up on his hind legs his front legs striking the air then he gracefully lowers to the ground to stand quietly. He shakes his head his mane flowing over his forehead then lowers his head for acceptance from his handler. You might also see Darth Vader before your eyes on a black stallion and next running full blast past the audience would be Disney's Pecos Bill chased by the Lone Ranger. On the other hand there might be beautiful horses under silks of material flowing from the ceiling and then followed by our special fellow Barney Google.... comic relief when you least expect it. It,s her personality using beautiful horses to express her chosen profession. These are just a few of the magical 4-legged stars you will see in this unique night of entertainment called The Magical World of Dancing Horses.

Surprisingly this production is produced by a woman 78 years young and a craftsman in her chosen profession of horse training. Horse training is a simple word for the creative and imaginative presenter Dianne Olds Rossi who never tires of the thrill of the spotlights, music and show casing the final result of years of training. The horses are her life and each and every one is a special piece of art and she is recognized for her expertise of these astounding dancing horses, a life long achievement in the world of horses.
Dianne was an American girl growing up in Southern California on the visions of television escapades of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Hopalong Cassidy. This the era of good versus bad and the cowboy in the white hat always wins. Through the magic of horses Dianne has traveled the world, shown across the United States, Netherlands, Egypt, Mexico and Canada. Her career has run for decades and continues to expand even into her senior years.
