Dan Minns, a local Zumba® instructor, attended the annual Zumba® Convention in Orlando, FL, over the summer.
While there, Susan G. Komen® presented to the group of nearly 7,000 people, representing 99 different countries. While at the Zumba® Convention, Dan committed to hosting a Zumbathon® for Susan G. Komen®. Why? Every nineteen seconds a case of breast cancer is diagnosed in a woman somewhere in the world. Every sixty seconds someone dies from breast cancer. These statistics are startling. The woman being diagnosed or passing could be you, your wife, your mother, your daughter, your sister, your aunt, your cousin, or a friend.
Susan G. Komen® announced a bold goal. The goal is to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the United States within the next decade.
After hearing the goal, Dan knew he had to help. Dan firmly believes the cure for cancer exists. If one type of cancer is cured, the procedures/medicines used can then be used to help cure other cancers.
The event details are as follows:
The Party in Pink™ Zumbathon® will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Lakeside United Methodist Church (420 First Street in DuBois) from 6:00-7:30 PM. Doors will open at 5:30 PM. Cost is a $10 donation at the door.
