Petee
Now why is that? Bats are one of our best protection from West Nile Virus.
soccermom
I love going to Parker Dan in the evening and watching all the bats fly out of the bat houses.
willow
Oh yeah, bats are great until they Go in your barn or somewhere and you have tried Everything, to get them to move to your bathouse, but they prefer to poop all over the stuff you have in your barn. If you want mine you are welcome to them.

Petee
They will choose the most comfy place for them. You can contact a Master Gardener for information on how to remove them safely and legally from your barn. 849-7361
bunny
We had a fair size colony, counted close to 80, then it got too dark to count the rest. Watched for their exit spot. Luckily we had only one entrance/exit for it being such an old house. We put up a bat house in the flight path, but a bit lower. In the fall, when we stopped seeing them, we sealed up the entrance, and removed all the guano. Complete haz-mat suit, recommended full face mask, filters. Got an old shop vac, swept and shoveled into bags, some into the garden, the rest a friend took for his gardens. Next year we had no bats. Second year, we moved the bat house further from the old area, and they moved into the bat house. It was good to see them back, we were afraid we had chased them off completely. There are companies that will remove them, but its pricey. We just read everything we could, and were lucky enough to do it right. willow
I checked the internet , called everyone and tons of stuff, basically they said good luck getting bats out of a barn. Too big, too many holes, can't seal it up.
jonlh64
Several years ago, a bat got in my apartment and was flying in circles around the mid-floor chimney in my finished attic. Realizing it didn't want to be there anymore than I wanted it, I simply opened a window, humanely cornered the bat with a tupperware bowl, and set it free. It happily flew away. I don't know why people freak out so much with these things.
