Jack R. Chewning, Age 74, of Highland Street Ext., DuBois, PA died on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his home.

Born on May 31, 1943 in Mabie, WV, he is the son of the late Virgil R. & Juanita Geraldine Pearl (Emigh) Chewning.

On August 21, 1965, he married his wife of 52 years, Judy L. (Kelly) Chewning., She survives.

He along with his wife and family operated LaRue’s Hillside Restaurant and Tavern. He retired from Owens Brockway after many years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening and going to the casino. 

Jack was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He was also a member of the Olympic Athletic Club; George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17; Independent Political and Social Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 965 in Falls Creek. He enjoyed children as a bus driver and youth soccer coach. 

Jack is survived by 4 children: Kelly Chewning & companion Brian Baird of DuBois, PA, Christine Bernardo of DuBois, PA, Amanda “Amy” Blakley & her husband David of Sykesville, PA and Ronald Chewning & his wife Tracy of DuBois, PA; 3 siblings Jerry Chewning of Ravenna, OH, J. Joanne Papanicolas of Lincoln, CA and Kenneth Chewning of Big Run, PA and 10 grandchildren: Sarah Hook, Rebekah Shilala, Beau Bernardo, Nick, Tony & Jessica Blakley and Brooke, Aaron, Isaiah & Emelia Chewning.


He was preceded in death by his step father (Joseph Turner) and a brother (Virgil Chewning, II).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 1-4 PM at the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 4 PM from the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ with Pastor Audra Krise and Pastor Barry Fillman co-officiating.

Burial will be in the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery. 

The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family request memorials may be place with the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 80, Luthersburg, PA 15848.
