Joseph A. Kirk, Age 78 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born on July 12, 1939 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph J. & Vinetta H. (Fromm) Kirk.

On June 10, 1961, he married Patricia J. “Pat” Cavanaugh Kirk.  she survives.

Joe was a 1957 graduate of St. Catherine High School, a 1961 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and he did his graduate work at Penn State University.

He was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the family owned Beaver Meadow Creamery.  He began his career at the age of 10 working with his father.

Joe had served for 20 years on the Board of Directors of S&T Bank Corp, Inc., and had served as President of the American Butter Institute.  He had served on the Board of Directors of the DuBois Nursing Home and was a long-time member of the DuBois Rotary Club where he, along with his wife, was very involved with the Foreign Exchange Student Program hosting seven exchange students in their home over the years.  Joe was very active in many organizations and activities in the greater DuBois community.

He is survived by 5 children (Mary Barber & her husband Robert of Morehead City, NC; Jane Kirk of Wilmington, NC; Robert Kirk & his wife Stacey; William Kirk, and Paul Kirk, all of DuBois, PA), 6 grandchildren (Megan, Eli, Adam, Nick, Tristen, and Ty) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother James Kirk.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family strongly suggests that memorial contributions be kept locally and made to a charity of the donor’s choice in the DuBois area.
