Althea Simpkins, Age 92, of West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA died Friday, June 08, 2018 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA. Born on April 20, 1926 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Claude C. and Anna C. (Erickson) Corle. She was a graduate of DuBois Area High School Class of 1943. On February 24, 1944 she married Frank R. Simpkins. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2005. Althea retired from Johnson Motors, where she was a bookkeeper for many years. Previous to that she worked for Cooper Hawkinson Tread. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, where she was active in the ladies bible study. She enjoyed playing 500 with a group of friends for over 60 years. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, boating and most of all spending time with family. Althea is survived by a son, F. Richard Simpkins & his wife Eileen of Fort Mill, SC; 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kirk, Brian, and Christopher; 12 great grandchildren and a daughter in law, Peni Simpkins of Clarion, PA. She was preceded in death by her son (David Simpkins) and 3 brothers (Claude, Gordon & Charles Corle). There will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 2 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Donald R. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery. Memorials may be placed with Christ the King Manor, 1100 West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801 and/or Lakeside United Methodist Church, 420 First Street, DuBois, PA 15801.
