DUBOIS, Pa. - A Reynoldsville woman has been accused of stealing money from a notary service company she worked at.

Heather Woodel, 33, has been charged with theft by failing to deposit funds received, 99 counts of issuing bad checks and other summary offenses.

According to a complaint, state police were contacted by a local business in May 2017 that he had sold cars to seven people and had them complete title transfers and registrations at DBA Ace Notary Services in DuBois to be submitted to PennDOT, but said he never received the titles from PennDOT.

It was determined by investigators that the title requests were never sent to PennDOT.

According to police, additional complaints came in to the notary services that customers never received their titles and PennDOT said they had been issued 81 bad checks by the notary service.

Police said in total PennDOT received 116 bad checks from Ace Notary Services for a total of $16,360.16.

According to police, they interviewed Woodel on March 20 and she admitted to using the money meant for title transfers and registration to pay her own personal debts.

Police said Woodel admitted to signing 99 of the checks for a total of $14,335.06.

Woodel has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 17.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   https://wjactv.com/news/local/dubois-notary-worker-accused-of-using-funds-for-her-own-use
