Chunko, age 86 of Indiana, PA died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital Born on August 27, 1932 in Spangler, PA he was the son of Joseph and Violet (Lamar) Chunko. John was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War. He worked at Spaulding Fiber in Towanda, New York for 37 years. John was a member of the American Legion Post 41 Indiana, PA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to camp. He also loved to watch westerns. He is survived by his longtime companion (Carol Knarr of Reynoldsville, PA), 4 children (Jody Skuce of Pittsburgh, PA, John Chunko, Jeffrey Chunko and Jill Ann Skidmore all of Punxsutawney, PA), stepchildren (David Luveracki of Shenandoah, PA and Kevin Knarr of Penfield, PA) one brother (Joseph Chunko of Northern Cambria, PA), one sister (Margaret “Peg” Crislip of Florida), numerous grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by one sister Shirley Stonebraker. As per John’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Penn Run, PA. The Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Harmony Presbyterian Church, 2075 Route 553 Highway, Penn Run, PA 15765.
