Local Man Accused of Sending Obscene, Threatening Messages to Woman

handcuff-gavel.jpgPUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (ETY) – Charges have been filed against a local man who is accused of repeatedly calling and sending obscene and threatening messages to a woman.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 42-year-old Douglas Philip Christner, of DuBois.

According to a criminal complaint, around 2:57 a.m. on May 9, a known victim reported to police that Douglas Christner had called her 17 times and sent threatening and obscene text messages to her phone.

The victim stated that this began on May 8, around 8:00 a.m. until the late hours that evening, according to the complaint.

Officer Andrekovich obtained screenshots of the texts sent to the victim’s phone, which the complaint notes displayed obscene language and threatening text.

The victim was also given information for Crossroads to obtain a Protection from Abuse (PFA) order, which the victim was able to obtain as of May 15, according to the complaint.

The following charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on Thursday, May 16:

– Harassment – Communicate Repeatedly in Another Manner, Misdemeanor 3 (17 counts)
– Harassment – Communicate Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3 (4 counts)
– Harassment – Course of Conduct With No Legitimate Purpose, Summary
