Wet Waterlogged Gardens

Be sure to not lose your valuable soil by letting it wash away.  Dig trenches between rows and fill them with mulch or straw.  It will allow water to seep down into the soil instead of letting it wash off with your hard won rich garden soil.  It will also direct water down under the roots of your plants, right where you want it.  Next year, that trench will be full of rich soil waiting to be turned up on top of the growing row.  Then fill the trenches wish straw and mulch to repeat the process.  Be sure to lightly mulch around the plants also.  Cardboard works very well.  Drainage will be much improved also.
