MESSAGE: There is no actual plant sale, but we do have all of the plants we normally have at the plant sale in our greenhouses. Orders can be taken right now. No waiting because the tomatoes are ready to crawl right out of the greenhouse Plant Orders will be delivered to the parking lot of Charlie’s Alternators or any other parking lot that the buyer chooses. We will set out the order and a Donation Container on a specific time and date of the buyer’s choosing. Once the buyer has loaded their plants and left, we will pick up the container.
Our plants are all grown by BUDS members and the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners. Penn State would not permit plant sales this year, so we are selling all of their plants for them also. Our remaining Mother’s Day Hanging Baskets are all available at Wayland’s Agway in DuBois or by order. All plants are in newspaper containers which can be planted right into the ground. No unrecyclable plastic to deal with. The plants also grow much better with healthy root systems. No chemicals have been sprayed on these plants.
A link for the identification and care of every plant is included on the order form.
The BUDS bought and maintain all of the street pots on Long Avenue from Brady to Main Street, then at the corner of Quarry, from Long and Franklin to Mike Carlson’s Garage on Park Avenue. Our sale is usually around Memorial Day at Charlie’s Alternators.
The Master Gardener volunteers are trained by Penn State to use university researched information to answer gardening questions regarding plants, soil, pests, water issues, trees, shrubs, etc. That service is free to the public, but is funded by the federal, state and county. The Garden Hot Line is 849-7361, Ext 508. Leave a message which will be relayed to a Master Gardener to be answered
