image-130.pngPINE CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a man failed to yield to traffic and caused a crash on State Route 28 late Saturday morning.

According to Punsutawney-based State Police, the accident occurred around 11:27 a.m. on May 23 on State Route 28, just east of Milliron Road, in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 2009 Dodge Ram 3500, operated by 77-year-old Pierre J. Pontzer, of Kersey, was stopped at a stop sign on Milliron Road and then failed to yield to traffic prior to entering Route 28.

A 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, operated by 18-year-old Cody J. Johnson, of Brookville, was traveling south on Route 28 when Pontzer’s vehicle entered the roadway, and Johnson’s vehicle then struck the cattle trailer pulled by Pontzer’s vehicle.

Johnson’s vehicle came to a rest at the point of impact in the southbound lane. Pontzer continued north approximately 100 feet from the point of impact and pulled off the west side of the roadway.

Pontzer, Johnson, and Johnson’s passenger, a 17-year-old female from Brockway, were all using seat belts.

No injuries were reported.

Pontzer’s vehicle sustained minor damage, while Johnson’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by McCool’s Towing.

Pontzer was cited for a stop sign violation.

Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
