State Police Calls: DUI, Criminal Mischief, Trespass, Harassment Incidents

DUI in Punxsutawney Borough

Around 2:51 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, Punxsutawney-based State Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Dodge Durango on Albion Street near Belmont Avenue in Punxsutawney Borough for a registration violation.

Police say upon approaching the vehicle, troopers observed the driver, a known 49-year-old Punxsutawney man, was exhibiting possible indicators of impairment. He was then asked to step out of the vehicle for field sobriety tests.

According to police, the driver was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

The investigation is ongoing.

The name of the driver was not released.

Criminal Mischief in Henderson Township

Punxsutawney-based State Police say a known 54-year-old Big Run man reported that sometime between 6:00 a.m. on May 26, and 8:41 p.m. on May 28, the window of a black 1959 Lincoln Premiere was broken at a location on Paradise Road in Henderson Township.

Harassment in Falls Creek Borough

On May 26, DuBois-based State Police received a information from Children and Youth Services (CYS) regarding inappropriate text messages between two juveniles in Falls Creek Borough between April 27 and May 1.

The investigation is ongoing.

Assault in Washington Township

On May 7, DuBois-based State Police received a Childline investigation from Jefferson County Children and Youth Services (CYS).

Police say 30-year-old Benjamin Steele, of Falls Creek, is being charged with simple assault in relation to an incident that occurred around 6:00 p.m. on May 4, involving a 14-year-old male victim from Falls Creek.

Criminal Trespass in Snyder Township

Between 7:00 p.m. May 3 and midnight on May 4, DuBois-based State Police took a report of a criminal trespass at a location on Salvage Yard Drive in Snyder Township.

Police say a garage belonging to a known 35-year-old Brockport man was broken into and the door frame of the garage, valued at $20.00, was damaged.

According to police, the investigation is ongoing, pending the receipt of security camera video from the location.

Harassment in Sykesville Borough

DuBois-based State Police responded to a report of an altercation between two adults at a location on West Main Street in Sykesville Borough around 7:40 p.m. on May 26.

Police say following the investigation, it was found at a 54-year-old Sykesville man struck a 6-year-old boy from Stump Creek, which resulted in the mother of the child, a known 38-year-old Stump Creek woman, striking the man.

The name of the individuals involved were not released.
