RIDGWAY BOROUGH, Pa. (WJAC) — According to Elk County dispatch, fire crews were called to the scene of a house fire in Ridgway Borough on Monday night.

Dispatch said the call came in around 8 p.m. According to dispatch, the fire broke out at a single-family home on the 200 block of Grove Avenue. The Elk County Coroner was called to the scene and at least one person was taken to Penn Highlands Elk Hospital, according to dispatch.

The condition of the victim and the state of the home are currently unknown.

UPDATE:

RIDGWAY BOROUGH, Pa. (WJAC) — Elk County Coroner Michelle A. Muccio has identified the victim of Monday night's fatal house fire along Grove Avenue in Ridgway Borough.

Muccio says 59-year-old Michelle A. Counseller died of smoke inhalation, and the manner of death has been ruled accidental.

Officials say the blaze broke out Monday, around 8 p.m., along the 200 block of Grove Avenue.

The Ridgway Fire Chief also confirmed that a second person was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and is expected to be okay.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials added.
