HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — A bill that is being considered in the Senate by Pennsylvania lawmakers could make being maskless in public a misdemeanor.

Senate Bill 1287, introduced on Sept. 8, would rule not wearing a mask in public as a second-degree misdemeanor of recklessly endangering another person, according to the bill.

Generally, recklessly endangering another person is defined as a person recklessly engaging in conduct which places or may place another person in danger of death or serious bodily injury.

“A person commits a misdemeanor of the second degree if the person willfully fails to wear a mask or other face-covering that is necessary to protect public health as a result of a declaration by the
Governor of disaster emergency,” the bill states.

The bill is sponsored by Senator Art Haywood.                                                                                                                                                                                                               https://www.wearecentralpa.com/news/pa-considering-new-bill-to-make-not-wearing-a-mask-a-misdemeanor/

How can someone be a "danger" to the public if they test negative for the virus? Does anyone think these things through? Are they going to fine people who can't spread what they don't have for not taking precautions to not spread what they don't have? Art Haywood is another twit out of Philadelphia. The intelligence level of our state officials continues to drop.

I certainly understand all the statements here but, Maybe if people were being more cautious about wearing masks when they actually should be these extremes would not need to be taken, instead of just refusing to wear them at all.

OBEY!!!  Or you will be forced to obey.  No thanks.

We are being asked to accommodate the paranoia of other people. A perfectly healthy person who has tested negative is required to wear a mask because if he doesn't it causes others to be fearful. What is next? Will there be someone posted in public bathrooms to make sure you wash your hands for 20 seconds? You are responsible for your own health. Wear your mask, stay away from other people or don't go into crowds if your health or paranoia demands it. If your mask doesn't protect you what makes you so sure that the one being worn by those in line with you will? This is plain and outright tyranny. Our elected officials are becoming dictators. Prepare to have different colored stars sewn to your sleeves so people can shun you for whatever the next popular "cause" that you are on the wrong side of is.

That is coming under a certain rule.

And there should be a heavy fine for speaking out against what we feel is impinging on our Constitutional Rights and then we could start throwing people in jail for it or black listing them. And when they come for you what will you do?

Yes America that is supposed to be the land of the free so we should be able to choose if we want to wear a stupid worthless mask or not. If you can have the opinion that people should be fined heavily then anyone else can have an opinion on the subject too, even if it doesn't meet your standards.

Well---I do not feel "wearing a mask or not" is really such an important 'freedom'-----especially when it comes to public health.  The CDC stressed again today how important is was to wear a mask.   Now, if it was freedom of speech (etc)---that might be a bigger concern, but....

So did I but if they are going to fine me for not wearing a mask why not fine me for calling the people who make it into law idiots? You can't demand freedom for one stupidity without being all inclusive. If the powers that be want to fine you for not wearing a mask that they can't prove prevents anything do you think that they will not try to control your opinion of their stupid action?  It is the American way. Equality in stupidity in all things.

There is no such thing as an unimportant freedom. What is unimportant to you may be very important to someone else. What is an important freedom to someone else should be important to you as well shouldn't it? I always thought that you had to have two x chromosomes to use the women's bathroom but apparently it was important to some xy chromosome beings to use it and suddenly that was OK because it was an important freedom to them and the powers that be agreed to the chagrin of those who have two x chromosomes.

If masks are mandatory should the government supply the masks?

Masks, hand sanitizer, distancing, hand washing....all of these are supposed to prevent the spread of covid, but they cannot prevent a cold.  Politicians, and scientist with political pressures, are pushing a big lie.  Masks were useless in 1919 and their useless today.
