Compliance checks made at licensed liquor establishments in Pittsburgh and throughout Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania State Police said seven violation notices and 26 warnings were issued as a result of COVID-19 compliance checks at licensed liquor establishments over the past three days.

Three of those violations were in the Pittsburgh area, along with four warnings, according to statistics released by state police. (Scroll down to see the numbers)

"Because the investigation is ongoing, names of establishments issued a notice of violation will not be released at this time," state police said.

Compliance checks are unannounced and can occur anywhere in Pennsylvania, but the focus is on areas with higher coronavirus transmission rates, state police said.

Liquor Control Enforcement officers visited 315 businesses to check for social distancing, masking, and other health and safety requirements of the liquor code.

Below are the reported numbers of compliance checks, warnings and violation notices issued by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement from Oct. 13-15.

• Philadelphia: 39 compliance checks, 5 warnings, 1 violation.
• Wilkes-Barre: 29 checks, 4 warnings, no violations.
• Harrisburg: 28 checks, 2 warnings, no violations.
• Pittsburgh: 138 checks, 4 warnings, 3 violations.
• Altoona: 22 checks, 1 warning, no violations.
• Williamsport: 13 checks, 2 warnings, no violations.
• Punxsutawney: 9 checks, 4 warnings, 3 violations.
• Erie: 18 checks, 1 warning, no violations.
• Allentown: 19 checks, 3 warnings, no violations

 

State police said all businesses and employees in the restaurant and retail food service industry that are authorized to conduct in-person activities must:

• Require customers to wear masks while entering, exiting or otherwise traveling throughout the business. (Masks may be removed while seated.)
• Require employees to wear masks at all times.
• Provide at least 6 feet between parties at tables or physical barriers between customers where booths are arranged back to back.
• Ensure maximum occupancy limits for indoor and outdoor areas are posted and enforced.

Police said violators may face administrative citation by the LCE, and continued violations put the establishment's liquor license at risk.

A complaint about a business not complying with COVID-19 mitigation mandates may be reported via the state's online complaint form or by calling 800-932-0602.

Oh heavens, how do they expect restaurant workers to police the guests.  It's so simple to comply, but nit wits who can't even try to comply in the minute it takes to walk to a table, walk through yelling at the top of their lungs like, "Hey look at me!".  I do, and people I've known for many years have lost some of my esteem.

Hmm I've never seen/heard anyone yell at the top of their lungs in a restaurant who aren't wearing masks. Didn't know we were to do that 🤔 I will add that to my list of things to do like window licking.

My 17 year old niece was called a "communist c-word" when she asked a customer to put his mask on when he entered the restaurant she was working in.  Thankfully,  her manager was able to quickly have the man removed from the restaurant.

Just because you don't see it happening doesn't mean it isn't happening.   There are idiots on both sides of the mask debacle.

Looks like Punxsy did the worst or had the strictest enforcement. Tied Pittsburgh for the most warnings and violations. Pittsburgh had 138 inspections Punxsy had 9.

I am aware that people are rude to workers telling them to wear a mask. That was not what i was referring to.

With the LCB trying to enforce Adolf Wolf's unconstitutional and illegal edicts and mandates it looks like the PA Court system is about to get extremely busy and I'll bet the phones are ringing off the hook too at civil law firms to file civil action against Wolf's illegal shut downs.
