Government should have no right to say who goes where, BUT, the businesses should have every right and legal responsibility to provide a safe place for its customers to shop.  Walmart has it right.  They try to stop non-mask wearers at the door but are not tyrannical about doing it.  They will also collect your grocery list and deliver it to your car for free!

So, if you don't want to, or cant, wear a mask, then just stay in your own car, read a book or listen to the radio, and have them placed in your car!

Problem solved.

Or, the opposite is true--if one is afraid of catching something from the maskless, one can also opt to have their groceries delivered to their car.  It's so nice to live in a free country where people have options--for now.

Sooner or later everyone is gonna wake up to the fact that there is no way to stop the spread of this virus.

All these stupid rules and government control is just changing the date on when someone MAY get the virus.

Navy/Marine Corps COVID-19 Study Findings Published in New England Journal of Medicine

Implementing best practice public health measures on their own among young adults may not be enough to prevent SARS-CoV-2 transmission, and additional actions, such as widespread and repeated testing, are recommended to reduce the risk of viral spread, according to research published today in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Researchers from Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC), in collaboration with scientists from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, conducted a study to understand the dynamics of viral transmission and host response to COVID-19 in young adults in order to inform public health measures in response to COVID-19 in a group setting.

The study, COVID-19 Health Action Response for Marines (CHARM), took place at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, and included nearly 2,000 participants, composed mostly of 18- to 20-year-old healthy Marine recruits predominantly from the Eastern United States. Upon arrival for recruit training, they spent two weeks in a strict, supervised group quarantine that required wearing masks and emphasized hand washing and social distancing as they began their initial military instruction, primarily outdoors.

To determine asymptomatic and symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 prevalence and transmission among study participants during the quarantine period, researchers collected study questionnaires and specimens weekly and conducted both polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and serology tests. PCR tests are the gold standard for diagnosing COVID-19.

"The study hopes to improve medical readiness for the Marines and the DoD as well as inform force health protection measures,” said Cmdr. Andrew Letizia lead researcher for the study and deputy director of NMRCs infectious diseases directorate. “The investigators and I believe these findings will help the DoD, other public health entities, and society as a whole mitigate the spread of the pandemic not only among this particular population, but to those they might unknowingly infect as well."

The authors also found that nearly 6% of study participants arrived to recruit training with antibodies for SARS-CoV-2, indicating a previous exposure to the virus. Additionally, at the start of the supervised quarantine, 1% of participants tested positive, 95% of whom were asymptomatic. All reported self-quarantine at home for two weeks before reporting, denied any direct exposure to sick contacts and did not have any risk factors for exposure to COVID-19. Therefore, questions assessing current symptoms or risk factors would not have identified 95% of these individuals who were infected.

According to the authors, these results suggest the need to augment public health measures with widespread initial and repeated surveillance testing to prevent COVID-19 transmission in group settings.

Study of Marine recruits finds fever, symptom screening misses many coronavirus cases

Temperature and COVID-19 symptom checks like the ones used at schools and doctor’s offices have again proved inadequate for spotting coronavirus infections and preventing outbreaks.

A study of Marine recruits found that despite these measures and strict quarantines before they started training, the recruits spread the virus to others even though hardly any of them had symptoms. None of the infections were caught through symptom screening.

The study, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, has implications for colleges, prisons, meatpacking plants and other places that rely on this sort of screening to detect infections and prevent outbreaks.

“We spent a lot of time putting measures like that in place and they’re probably not worth the time as we had hoped,” said Jodie Guest, a public health researcher at Atlanta’s Emory University who had no role in the research.

“Routine testing seems to be better in this age group” because younger adults often have no symptoms, she said.

The study was led by researchers from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and the Naval Medical Research Center.

It involved 1,848 Marine recruits, about 90 percent of them men, who were told to isolate themselves for two weeks at home, then in a supervised military quarantine at a closed college campus, The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, for two more weeks. That included having a single roommate, wearing masks, keeping at least 6 feet apart and doing most training outdoors. They also had daily fever and symptom checks.

The recruits were tested for coronavirus when they arrived for the military quarantine and 7 and 14 days afterward. Sixteen, or about 1 percent, tested positive on arrival and only one had any symptoms. Another 35 — an additional 2 percent — tested positive during the two-week military quarantine and only four had symptoms.

Only recruits who tested negative at the end of both quarantine periods were allowed to go on to Parris Island for basic training.

Genetic testing revealed six separate clusters of cases among the recruits.

“A lot of the infection that occurs, we don’t even realize it is occurring,” said one study leader, Navy Cmdr. Andrew Letizia, a doctor at the Naval Medical Research Center.

The quarantine measures and adherence to them were far more strict than what would occur at a typical college campus, said another study leader, Mount Sinai’s Dr. Stuart Sealfon.

“This is a really infectious virus. You really need to use a combination of good public health measures, temperature checks, mask wearing, social distancing, hand washing ... and comprehensive testing” to prevent spread, he said.

Previously, federal officials said a screening project to check temperatures and symptoms at U.S. airports caught fewer than 15 cases out of 675,000 travelers. It’s not known how many cases were missed, just that very few were detected.

A separate study published Wednesday in the New England journal reports on an outbreak last spring on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. Among the crew of 4,779, mostly young people, 1,271 became infected; 77 percent did not show symptoms when diagnosed and 45 percent never developed any.

The case shows that “young, healthy persons can contribute to community spread of infection, often silently,” Dr. Nelson Michael of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research wrote in a commentary.

This story was first published on Nov. 11, 2020. It was updated on Nov. 12, 2020 to correct the percentage of infected Roosevelt crew members who never developed symptoms to 45 percent, not 55 percent.

Yes but how do they know people are going to work and going for travel? What's the point of needing a neg test if they don't stop each person at each boarder? We have family coming from Ohio Wendesdsy and they aren't getting tested. Who is going to know if they were tested or not?

Ummmm, Rudy. Don't you mean 'transparent'? :)

I disagree with whatever idiot came up with that graphic. You can still see light through opaque :arghh:

A clean window is transparent

A window licked by one who is Covid negative would be opaque

A window licked by one who is Covid positive would be green.

Ask Dr. Felchi, that’s what he said. Today, at least

Breaking news from the Liberal CDC.

Mask mandates helps SLOW the spread of the virus.

Earth shaking news from the experts controlling your lives.

You only got one life. No do overs, so are you going to let this statement control your ONE life?

Read the brainwashing headline again. What word stands out to you? It should be the word "SLOW".

No where are they claiming that wearing a mask will keep you from getting the virus.

They are telling you that if you wear a mask you MIGHT not get the virus TODAY.

They never stand tall with all their expertise and say you WILL NOT get the virus in the future.

Is that really enough information to allow them and your government to control your life?

Face it people, these experts KNOW that there is no way to control the spread of the virus. They just keep wording sugar pills to make you feel comfy.

I guess there is nothing wrong with trying to spread hope even when you know there is no hope. It might keep the masses calmer.

What is wrong, is when your voted for government, uses the pretend hope to control the masses it's way.

Herd immunity will happen regardless of what is or is not done, but when did we as Americans start acting that way.  Oh well, let them die and get out of our way.
