Velma B. Forsythe, age 92 formerly of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Laurelbrooke Personal Care Home after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

 

Born on April 27, 1928 in Brownsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Anna (Leyland) Brown.

 

Velma was a 1946 graduate of Centerville High School. She went on to graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1950 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Education and was active in several sororities.

 

In August of 1950 she married Forrest Forsythe. He preceded her in death in 1982.

 

She was a loyal member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and served on many boards and leadership positions.

 

Over the years Velma worked for several businesses and was the owner of Forsythe Business Services.


She was listed as Who’s Who in the world and Who’s Who in America for more than 10 years.

 

Her love of travel and the people of the world led her to visit and spend time in over ninety countries and all seven continents. She also worked with the International Executive Service Corporation as a volunteer Executive Consultant to help small business development overseas. She did many mission trips and loved to share her experiences with church groups and nursing homes throughout the area.

 

Velma is survived by her daughters;( Leslie Hill & her husband Jeffrey of Jacksonville, FL, Lynn McGuire & her husband Jerry of Rochester Mills, PA), grandsons; Michael McGuire of Portland, OR, Brian McGuire & wife Katie of Verona, PA) and great granddaughter (Jordyn McGuire).

 

She was preceded in death by her brothers; (Colonel George A. Brown and Ernest H. Brown) and infant sister (Nancy).

 

There will be no public visitation and a private family funeral service will be held

 

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ohio.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to WRC Senior Services in honor of Velma Forsythe, 985 Route 28, Brookville, PA 15825 to be used for the music department at Laurelbrook Personal Care Home.

 

The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
