Administrators Pompeii Posted February 20, 2021 Administrators Share Posted February 20, 2021 Vernon Jacoby Miller, 96, died peacefully at home in DuBois, PA, February 18th, 2021. He was born June 22nd, 1924 in Selinsgrove, Pa. the son of the late Murrell V. Miller and Esther V. (Jacoby) Miller. In 1944, he married his high school sweetheart, Roberta M Elder. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. She preceded him in death. In 2008, he married Carolyn Finalle with whom he shared his last years. She survives. After serving in the United States Army during WWII, he attended Susquehanna University and graduated from Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. He served as a Lutheran minister in Cleveland, Duncansville, Johnstown and Clearfield, and after 37 years of service, retired from full time ministry at Christ Lutheran Church DuBois, PA. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his 2 brothers, Edwin and Larry. He is survived by his 3 children, Mary Jayne Stevens, Debbie Barefoot and Mark V. Miller. Six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four step sons, eleven step grandchildren, and fourteen step great grandchildren. We greatly appreciate Penn Highlands Health services, our private caregivers, and the loving care of the Finalle family. Due to our current circumstances, a private visitation and funeral service was held. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will take place in Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, PA. Those who wish to remember Vernon in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Christ Lutheran Church at 875 Sunflower Drive, DuBois, PA, 15801.
