Beulah Land

Has anyone ever visited Beulah Land, the old cemetary in Reynoldsville?  Seems to be the place for orbs and other strange sightings.

Yes I have.  There are actually some of my family and friends buried there fairly recently for that cemetary.

I have never seen any strange sightings but maybe I am too focused when visiting.

It is a spooky place. Many of the graves have been taken over by the surrounding woods, though the main portion of it sem to get some care... It does look like a Stephen King movie set. It's not a place you would find, unless you were looking for it..I don't know of any ghost sightings, maybe you have to believe in them to see them...

yes when I was a kid we went up there often it is very strange. There were times late at night when we would hear voices see balls of light there was one grave that you could see where a deer trail went right around it as if the deer would not walk across it. Once we saw what looked like a woman from across the cemetary but as we drew closer she just disappeared.

Been there many times.  Nothing scary about it - beautiful, quiet place.   The graves in the woods area are not part of the main cemetery.  They are from the old Baptist cemetery.

Interesting ...I didn't know about a Baptist cemetery.  I looked for Buleah Land cemetery on google earth. While Beech Street and the area between Main and Wayne Road, is very detailed, I couldn't see exactly where the cemetery is. It is closer to Wayne Road, than Main St., as I remember.

fox it is at the creast of the hiill coming south on beech st you will see the feilds then where the feilds end and the woods starts it is just inside the woods line

Yes...I could easily find it myself..Just trying to place it for others from my memory of being there. There must have been a large community near there, it has a real story to tell about the area, just as Beechwoods and Rumbarger, Salem, Luthersburg Cemeteries, and many more around the area.

It is actually closer to the Main St. end.  Coming up Beech from Main St.  just past the end of the houses it will be on the left.  Either way will get you there.     It is a very old cemetery but they are still burying there.

Several years ago a lot of the bodies and coffins had to be moved in the oldest part of the cemetery due to excessive rainfall.  From what I understand some of the very old plots, where they didn't have vaults the coffins were actually starting to slide through some of the more shallow areas of the hill leading up to the main part of the cemetery.  When I was a kid I lived on Beech Street and frequented it.  Well I am 32 now I was between 7 or 8 then, I guess I used to sneak up there to play with my imaginary friends my grandma told me years later.  I always had a fascination with this place ever since I was little.  There are times when I would be up there and the hair on my neck would stand straight up and I would feel so sick and other times when I would be a little more calm.  There are a lot of "urban legends" or myths about this place I have heard over the years.  I have personally seen a lot of things here, speaking of the old Baptist part of the cemetery in the woods leading back to the water shed, a friend and I were walking down the path and both happened to look down into the woods and seen a woman in a white dress probably about 50 yards...maybe a little less standing quietly over something just looking down.  We stood there for a second just watching her then started walking again.  A few seconds later we looked back again and she was just gone.  This was fall time, leaves everywhere so if she was going to start walking through the woods we would have heard the crunching of the leaves under her feet, not to mention there was no way she would have been out of our visual range that quickly.  When we walked down to where she was standing there was a single gravestone there.  Couldn't read what was on it though and no leaves or ground was disturbed like someone was just there moments before.  Another story rumored to have happend there back before and after the start of the cemetery were hangings.   Apparently I was always told this tree sticks out and you could to this day still see the "scars" on the tree to where the rope would rub against the big branch where it was tied.  During one of my many many many many many many adventures to Beulah Land I decided to try and find it.  Sure enough the tree was easy to find and what looked to me like rope rubs on a big branch.  The marks could have been from anything but it did look like what I have always been told so who knows.  I know I have seen, witnessed and  experienced a lot of things personally in this place as well as a lot of my friends and friends of mine who didn't believe in ghost or spirits period, until the one night we took him up and no one was beside him, and he just took off running back down the hill.  When we caught up to him and asked him what the heck was his problem, he said he heard what sounded like "a woman with a severe smokers voice" (direct quote) telling him to get "the hell out."  He said so he listened to her and didn't look back.  Ever since then he has never set foot with me back in this place.  This was back in 1999 or 2000 so there was no bluetooth ear pieces yet haha.  I have a lot of stories and have heard a lot of local urban legends from around the area especially Reynoldsville when I lived there...not sure how true some of them are, but they make for some nice night time adventures!
