Eastman
I have been doing a lot of sorting through stuff at my late in-laws house since their passing last month and ran across these interesting copies of pictures and a newspaper article. Downtown Falls Creek with a dirt Main Street and a LOT of buildings. The Falls Creek Tannery workers and dried hides. Bringing the old smokestack down at the Tannery. It took 45 sticks of dynamite to bring the 150 foot tall stack with walls of 4 feet 9 inch thick at the base down. bryonharry1955, Pompeii, Nan and 1 other

rnetzlof
Regarding the group photo at the tannery: I suggest that the "stuff" is not dried hides, but bark, probably hemlock bark, used in the tanning process.

TheFirstNan
Can still recognize the remaining buildings from fires through the years. Brings back memories of walking down for penny candy and ice cream. Hicks' garage for orange sodas. Ahhhh the good old days.
