I would rather go to someplace like Knoebels where you don't have to pay to get in or pay to ride and the rides are decent and the employees are clean!!!

They need to teach normal math that they will use when they are adults like when we were kids. Nobody does math this way.

    All Heck Breaking Loose!

It was done after the storm. Power was shut off 1hr AFTER the storm passed thru that broke the pole. They only de-energized the line to perform the pole work. Besides, state requires X number of hours of rain, snow, and night time driving.

    How is everyone's garden doing?

Cabbage is doing great. I love the purple ones. My wife said she is going to cook them and make me eat it since I planted it. I don't like cabbage. Except for pigs in a blanket. I just like planting different stuff and seeing how it does. My wife is planning on making sauerkraut with the other ones. Cauliflower is doing well. Cauliflower is doing well. and so are the tomatoes.

    I don't know about this..

I've seen this quite often over the years and always figured they were headed for Texas and then across the border into Mexico. Wouldn't really pay to haul to Texas and then make costly repairs to sell in Texas but in Mexico they may be considered drive able with only minor repairs.

    How is everyone's garden doing?

Everything but our green and wax beans is great. Today was very long and a back ache kind of day. But we got so much done. Beets, peas, hot peppers, sweet peppers, kohlrabi and squash. I'm going to be very busy, but I love it!

See the adorable moment these parents introduced their kids to their adopted baby sister 14 hours ago Brianna Bernath TODAY "Are you kidding me?!" That's how 6-year-old Harper Pruitt reacted when her parents, Kasi and Shane Pruitt, introduced her and her older sister to their new adopted sister. Older sister Raygen, 11, simply burst into tears of joy. Shane Pruitt, 38, posted the video on Twitter to notify family and friends about their new arrival. It went viral, catching the eye of TODAY's Hoda Kotb, who featured it as her Morning Boost on Thursday. Shane, who is the director of missions for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, called Raygen's and Harper's reactions "fitting for their personalities." Harper is typically outspoken while Raygen is more sensitive and emotional. Shane Pruitt Shane and Kasi Pruitt introduced their new adopted baby daughter to their family on July 26. While the Pruitts had been going through the adoption process for about 10 months, they hadn't heard anything about a potential adoption until July 25, the night before Shane's video was taken. Shane and Kasi went to meet the baby's birth parents the next morning and brought the little one home the next day. Since the process happened so quickly, the couple didn't have the chance to tell their daughters or their two other children, Titus, 4, and Elliot, 20 months, both of whom are also adopted. But that doesn't mean that Raygen and Harper hadn't been anticipating this moment for quite some time. Shane Pruitt These siblings have a lot of love for their new baby sister! "We knew they'd be excited because they'd been asking about it every day," Shane said. Elliot, their youngest child, loves kissing the baby on the forehead and putting her pacifier in her mouth, Shane added. This is the third adoption for the Pruitt family, who live in Rockwall, near Dallas, Texas. Shane Pruitt "We knew they'd be excited (about the baby) because they'd been asking about it every day," Shane said of his two older daughters. "It might not be for everyone, but it's perfect for us," Shane said. Did something make your day, like this video might have? We want to hear about it! Tell us the story, and Hoda might share it during her Morning Boost series. SEE VIDEO TWEET; http://www.today.com/parents/see-adorable-moment-these-parents-introduced-their-kids-their-adopted-t114682

Eureka Math at DASD elementary schools

While I certainly agree with the time consuming things that are basically non-essential, doing the work and proving that it's correct is critical, even if it's not in the style that is being taught. As you saw, every new idea seems to become the next "revolutionary thing". But that doesn't necessarily make it so. The same with a calculator. Having the use of one as a tool is a wonderful thing. But math isn't just about numbers. It's about critical thinking and problem solving. When you allow the tool to replace the process, you've lost an important skill - other than your ability to press buttons.

I still miss the old Gateway Fair. I do like to support the local ones more than the county ones. Except I really loved the Jefferson County Fair when it was in Sykesville. I got to see Toby Keith and Shenandoah perform there. For the Toby Keith one, I was in the 3rd row and for the Shenandoah one in the 5th row. Both were great shows. And we always liked the demo derby there. More hubby and son than me, but we always had a good time.

    How is everyone's garden doing?

I just drag and drop them onto the message box. It is so much easier than the old way of searching and uploading. Now I just have my file folder open the one containing the pics I shrunk to size and just left click and hold and then drag them across the screen and drop(take my finger off the left button.). I also use this site to bulk shrink them and do the same thing I just drag on drop them onto the websites box and them just click save zip. The nice thing about this site it shrinks to the same needed automatically. The size is on the right of the screen and you can change it but I dont and they come out great as you see. http://birme.net/ On my computer I just put in the SD card out of my camera into the slot on the front of my computer and it does everything automatically for the most part. It uploads them from the SD card onto the computer. Now you have to know where they are going to in order to find them again. When I find the ones I downloaded after shrinking them I just make a new folder in my pics folder and name it something I will remember. I copy them all and just paste them in that new folder. I only do this for posting on this site since I have tons of pics and need to just upload the ones I just shrunk and if I need to upload later I have them by themselves.

    How is everyone's garden doing?

You inspired me to go out and look at the garden up close and take some pics. It has been awhile and the weeds have almost overtaken some stuff. I hate to weed and usually the paper works great and this year it did also except where I ripped the paper walking on it. I tilled deeper this year and my garden was very soft so when i was planting my knees and feet ripped the paper. Everything did well but the weeds are bad. If you have seen pics of my garden in the past there is hardly a weed. all in all everything is doing great. I even have lots of watermelon. Butternut squash grew so well it climbed up the fence. The plant below is Stevia I should grab some leaves next week and dry them to use in place of sugar since I am diabetic.

    Redneck DooBwa Chickens

My guess is that is what is called a "wind egg". My silkies will lay those from time to time, though not that small. A wind egg happens when an egg forms without a yolk. I bet if that egg was cracked it would be the white only

    How is everyone's garden doing?

I forgot about cucumbers, they are coming like crazy. I purposely planted them late. And I planted some and waited 4 weeks to plant the rest of them because every year by the time the tomatoes are ready the cucumbers are done. It didn't work. I have no ripe tomatoes except for a few cherry ones. Oh well, you can't always have what you want. I also planted bok choy this year and it grew so fast. It's been done for a while now. So I planted more beets where they were.

Doing pretty good. We finally have onions this year and we have lots of cabbage and my wife has picked some of the broccoli and cauliflower.

They will not be able to enforce this. Even if they enact this the local government doesn't have the authority to uphold an unlawful ordinance especially when they don't have a police force to even enforce it. It was July 4th are they sure it was gunfire and if it was as long as there is adequate backstops etc and all laws were followed what is the beef. If they thought it was being done in a harmful manner why not call the police to investigate it. If he did do this what were the results. It was more likely fireworks or even a car backfiring. Maybe this councilman needs to move to a gun free zone like Chicago or Detroit.

Eureka Math at DASD elementary schools

When my kids were in elementary school just 2 or so years ago, I'd get so frustrated that they HAD to do their math the way they were taught instead of my much faster & easier way. They were made to draw diagrams and some other dumb, time consuming things. I remember being told that "we wouldn't have a calculator with us all the time, so we had to know how to do math and show work." Sorry math teachers...........I'd bet 90% of people carry a calculator with them daily.

Same price as last year, It includes everything except what you want to eat, same as Clearfield fair price for a family of 4, they just add the sneaky $4.00 parking charge. Also the food is not as pricey as Clearfield fair but mostly the same venders!

    I don't know about this..

Lack of power . Most of the 4 cylinders of today put out as much or more horse power than the big sedans of the 70's. Heck today's small cars ever have better brakes than those big old boats. Maybe those cars you seen might have the brake buddy hooked up im them. https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwjLn7vFlr_VAhUMVg0KHWW3DyQYABADGgJxYg&sig=AOD64_3rnotfcK6JtCzpVH_BVQEW-7UPtg&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwiGnbPFlr_VAhXM2SYKHYaZB3oQwg8IJg&adurl= Honestly what worries me more are the people going down the road with their homemade derby car trailers with one working tail light and no working brakes and tires that are 15 years old with a 2-inch ball ,hauling a car.

    Local schools sold , ...but

Everyone is saying that they were sold extremely low priced, why didn't any of you then purchase the buildings and flip them for high value you think they are worth and Pocket that money??? Apparently you think they are gold mine and better yet an easy sell... Why didn't take the chance on that easy money?

    Telephone Scams

These calls are such a sore subject for us. I used to pay extra for caller ID, I got rid of it and got an answering machine again. I refuse to answer the land line until the caller responds, and then many times I won't pick up, because of the scams. We used to get these calls at least twice a day, where a guy would say "Hello", then wait for a few seconds and say "Hello". Hubby got mad twice and picked it up and the guy told him he was getting donations for a policeman fund. Hubby told him both times in no uncertain terms to take our number off his list and never call again. Such a joke, the calls continued. So one day a few months ago, I picked up the phone and said, "Good afternoon, you've reached the office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General, how can I help you?" I heard a click and so far so good, no more of those calls. Fingers crossed that one will leave us alone.

I find that happens to me as well. Also, when I get the notification box that someone has replied to the thread, when I click on the link in it to see the post, it does nothing. I usually have to go up and refresh the page manually to see the latest post. Still, I consider that to be a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. I think, as a whole, it's been a much easier transition than what I first envisioned.
