North Carolina woman who turns 100 gets unique birthday wish North Carolina police arrested a 100-year-old woman at her nursing home Thursday, and she was able to cross going to jail off her bucket list. Roxboro resident Ruth Bryant was having a celebration for her 100th birthday when police arrived at the Cambridge Hills Assisted Living Center. As her friends and family gathered, a Person County deputy approached with handcuffs and asked “Are you Miss Bryant?” "It all depends on what you want!" Bryant replied, according to WRAL. He said, "Here's what I want. I want you!" Bryant and the officer, who said she was wanted on indecent exposure, were in on the gag. Bryant was handcuffed to her walker and placed in a patrol car. Pretending to put up a fight, she playfully kicked officers. "Don't kick me; I've got a bad knee!" said one deputy, to which Bryant replied, “I've got two bad knees!” Bryant’s own daughter Marian Oakley did not know what to make of the events unfolding. "I know that she is a hundred years old, but I didn't know --" she paused, startled by the siren, "-- that they'd be going this far." Bryant spent a few minutes in a jail cell, and then received her orange jumpsuit printed with “PERSON COUNTY JAIL” on it. "I'm in the jail-house now! I finally got here!" said Bryant, before hugging the chief jailer and returning to her assisted living center, where residents, family and friends were waiting to cut the cake.

I use Spotify and have for a good 5 years or so now. It's about $10 a month as well. Can't really compare it to iTunes Radio since I've never used it, but it is more than just radio. You can save your own library, create your own playlists with individual songs, etc. - you can also choose which songs, artists, or albums you want saved offline (so it doesn't use data, and is available if you're somewhere without signal to stream.) Member perks are an occasional thing too. For example they include a basic Hulu subscription with your Spotify subscription, and every so often you'll get another freebie or some kind of promotion. I actually just got a free Google Home Mini for being with them. Not sure how the two compare with availability of artists and albums, but I also don't know where I'd be without Spotify at this point, so there's that.

Assuming that you're talking about my comment: THAT was an "in general" (note my wording "as an aside") comment which didn't mention YOU and was said in humor. I honestly can't believe THAT comment would offend anyone. 🙄 But then again, I'm not that easily offended. 🤷‍♀️

Nobody told you how, when and where to get your oil changed. You asked for clarification on the law and you got it.

And the moral of "the story" is: don't ask a question unless you want to hear the answer. 🤷 🤭

Skunk Hollow , near where ?....anyone

The small United Methodist Church just west of Thunderbird is right in the middle of the village of Skunk Hollow. There use to be a small store there that was operated by Mr. Leach. The school house was in the building down over the embankment as you travel west on 323. I believe the building now has blue vinyl siding and is the home of Jeff Place. The house right next to the church was built by my family after their original home burned down.

But you can smell pot from a long ways off. And, as was discussed, every state has it's own rules. I love watching the stoners tell the cops that they are allowed to have a pound of pot on their front seat because pot is legal in their state. My point in this whole conversation was supposed to be easily understood. Laws are written to allow cops to be forgiving if they want. They are not required to bring down the full force of any law during a traffic stop. I don't think I have ever met a cop that didn't drink. I am pretty sure that a goodly amount of them smoke pot on occasion. BUT BUT BUT, The laws are written to give any cop the ability to make your life holy hell if He/She wants to. If you are pulled over by the same cop for the 10th time for the same offence that cop has the legal right to nail you to the wall. I have no problem with that at all. As you said, it appears as if stoners, get more breaks than drunks.

Please keep my daughter in your prayers as she travels abroad tomorrow morning to Belize and will be there all week with The Sisters of Nazereth on a mission trip to help build a house and hang with the little kids and do some sightseeing as well as going to the beach! Thanks so much

    Prayers Please

They finished the house along with plumbing and electrical, except the kids didn't have to do, which they were happy! They went back over and blessed it and now the kids are at the beach which is only a few blocks from them

Good doggie and speedy recovery to her with lots of treats! 🦴🍗🦴🍗🦴🍗🦴 However, it's disturbing that they got away. I hope they are caught (or karma catches up with them) soon before they terrorize or kill someone else.

'Move over': First-responders create powerful message about stopped emergency vehicles Updated: 3:43 PM EST Mar 5, 2020 National Desk Staff Play Video SHOW TRANSCRIPT (Video from Pulaski County Sheriff's Office) — First-responders parked dozens of vehicles together Tuesday for a powerful statement to passersby about safety. They gathered to remind drivers to move over when authorities and tow truck operators are at incidents. Not doing so can kill people. The video featuring aerial footage at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds showed fire, police and medical vehicles at night with their lights flashing. "Move over. It's the law," a caption on an aerial photo for the video also read. Arkansas law also requires motorists approaching stationary emergency response vehicles to slow down and use caution if moving over to the farthest lane isn't possible. Other states have similar laws. SEE VIDEO ; https://www.wtae.com/article/move-over-first-responders-create-powerful-message-about-stopped-emergency-vehicles/31250014

Everyone should know the law concerning DUI..... Perhaps it would gather similar attention----but just stating it seems unfair..... Since you brought it up, DUI is minor compared with what DJT has done...IMO

AARP DRIVER SAFETY COURSES AVAILABLE The Clearfield Center for Active Living, in partnership with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), is offering area individuals aged 55 and older the opportunity to take AARP Driver Safety Courses. The classroom courses were developed by AARP to help drivers remain safe on today’s roads while providing the bonus of a three-year discount on the course graduates’ car insurance. All automobile insurance companies conducting businesses in Pennsylvania are required to provide a premium discount to graduates of the Driver Safety Program who are 55 years of age and older. Couples, who both have a driver’s license, are each required to be certified in the program in order to be eligible for the discount. Although geared to drivers 55 and over, the class is open to all ages and AARP membership is not a requirement. The classes will be held at the Clearfield Center for Active Living, 116 South Second St, Clearfield on the following dates: The Refresher Course will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The Refresher Course is open to individuals who have previously taken the original eight-hour course and/or the refresher course within the past three years. The Original Course will be held in two sessions: Wednesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 23, 2020, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM The classes are open to all drivers over 55, with the cost for non-AARP members at $20, while AARP members pay a discounted price of $15. Checks are to be made payable to AARP and must be given to the instructor on the first day of class. Class size is limited and the required registration is taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early sign-up is suggested. You may register by contacting the Clearfield Center for Active Living at 814-765-9319. Information on this and other programs, meals, and activities is available by calling the Clearfield Center or by visiting the CCAAA website at www.ccaaa.net. Small Hero Dog Shot Twice in Leg Survives and Saves Young Girl From Armed Home Intruders The girl was able to escape through the garage while the dog distracted the gunmen By Georgia Slater March 03, 2020 02:28 PM Don’t be fooled by this small dog’s size — with just her bark, Starla was able to protect a young girl from a group of dangerous home intruders. On Tuesday, two armed robbers broke into Dion Ewing’s South Fulton, Georgia home around 3 p.m. while only the dog and Ewing’s niece were at the residence, WGCL reported. After the robbers broke down the door, Starla, a two-year-old Yorkshire terrier, tried to distract the intruders before one of the men shot the dog in her front and hind legs. During this time, Ewing’s niece was able to escape through the garage after getting an “alert on her phone about somebody approaching,” Ewing told the outlet. Despite Starla’s wounds, she continued to run after the robbers and distract them from shooting the girl. “This little thing right here. It’s just like a little guard dog,” Ewing explained after the attack. RELATED: ‘True Hero’ Pet Parrot Shouts ‘Fire’ to Alert Tennessee Family to Dangerous Blaze in Home She added, “They were chasing her out and the dog was chasing behind them. Even after being shot.” Ewing’s niece made it outside, however, the men followed close behind. According to the outlet, one of the robbers asked the other if he should shoot the girl, but Starla’s bark distracted them from going through with their plan. I think that, you know, if you know anything, please turn them in,” said Ewing. SEE VIDEO ; https://people.com/pets/dog-shot-survives-saves-girl-armed-intruders/
