The weekend arrests were part of Miami-Dade County's Anti-Human Trafficking campaign being conducted in advance of the May 3-5 Formula One events in South Florida, among the larger events that lead to similar crimes, officials say.
All three men -- Santiago Salazar Venegas, 28; Pedro Perez River, 26; and Ubilder Moises Velasquez, 38 -- responded separately to an online advertisement, supposedly created by a “mother” offering her “underage daughters” (13 and 15 years old) for sex.
This week, law enforcement personnel from the county will be on hand at the Village of Key Biscayne's second in a series of Community Outreach meetings with the public. The event takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Key Biscayne Police Department's Community Room in Village Hall, with Human Trafficking Safety and Child Internet Safety as two of the main topics.
