  1. They seemed to close when the light was shined on them. Do they reopen to finish the night bloom cycle? Very interesting to watch. Thank you.
  2. Prayers for her and her family. She will be missed.
  3. We had a fair size colony, counted close to 80, then it got too dark to count the rest. Watched for their exit spot. Luckily we had only one entrance/exit for it being such an old house. We put up a bat house in the flight path, but a bit lower. In the fall, when we stopped seeing them, we sealed up the entrance, and removed all the guano. Complete haz-mat suit, recommended full face mask, filters. Got an old shop vac, swept and shoveled into bags, some into the garden, the rest a friend took for his gardens. Next year we had no bats. Second year, we moved the bat house further from the old area, and they moved into the bat house. It was good to see them back, we were afraid we had chased them off completely. There are companies that will remove them, but its pricey. We just read everything we could, and were lucky enough to do it right.
  4. life is not fair - Maggie's ears are pretty well cleared up. All pink again and the gunky stuff is just about gone. She has stopped digging at them. We'll keep using it a few more days then wait for a while and see what happens. I did find it cheaper at Drs. Foster-Smith web page, $12.99 for the same size bottle that PetMed had on sale for $23.99. Thank you for sharing this. Dodgeman - Your boys are just beautiful.
  5. life is not fair - Got the ear med today. Will be trying it later this evening. I'll let you know in about a week if it is helping her. Thanks for the info.
  6. These are better than pictures of grandchildren. Love the smiles on their little faces.
  7. life is not fair - What kind of ear drops do you use? We had a Lhasa Apsos that had constant ear infections. We now have a Shih-Tzu-Bichon Frise that has the same problem. Drives her nuts and us as well. We can't find anything that will clear it up. She's a good dog, gets along well with anyone, spoiled rotten and well loved. It's funny she looks almost like our Lhasa, same colors, same markings, just the longer Bichon nose.
