  1. The link to James J. Patterson's grave on Findagrave is http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=patterson&GSiman=1&GScid=45938&GRid=46415251&
  2. On Saturday, October 24, 2015 the VFW Honor Guard came to the Rumbarger Cemetery to honor James J. Patterson, the first DuBois casualty of World War I. The local VFW post is named for him. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=patterson&GSiman=1&GScid=45938&GRid=46415251& [attachment=8999:IMG_0850.jpg]
  3. On August 21st the Penn State students came to help at the cemetery for Penn State Community Outreach Day. We certainly appreciated all they did to help. They added mulch to the entrance, painted the circle and railing around the Childs' Mausoleum and swept the sidewalk along Main Street. We wish them all good luck in their future careers.
  4. St. Catherine's did acquire the Oklahoma Cemetery probably because they don't have much room to expand. Go to http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=1259654&CScn=Oklahoma&CScntry=4&CSst=40&CScnty=2257
  5. The original DuBois Hospital on Scribner Avenue. I don't believe this is a picture of DuBois.
  6. Occasionally there are dogs in the cemetery and the owners don't clean up after them. No fun stepping in a pile of poop while mowing! We all just do the best we can.
  7. Thank you for the kind comments. We do appreciate all the help we get to restore and maintain this historic cemetery. It is the history of DuBois. Many of the hardworking pioneers of our community are buried there and deserve to be remembered. The DuBois Area Historical Society Lantern Walk will be at Rumbarger Cemetery this October. More information later.
  8. Here are some more pictures of the work that was done.
  9. On April 20th DuBois FedEx employees came to the Rumbarger Cemetery as an early Earth Day event. This is the third year that the employees and YardWorks (814-594-6421) of Brockway, have come to landscape, reset tombstones and generally clean up the cemetery. From left to right: Justin Marchiori, James Burkholder and Cole Bouch from YardWorks, John Geist, Scott Smith, Ryan Morrison, Andy Daugherty, Nick Digilarmo, Greg Weible, Brad Bowser, Seth Ferut, Megan Hubert, Brian Hibbard, Lynette Crawford, Bella Sciamanna and Jason Charles. The Rumbarger Cemetery Preservation Society would like to thank them for their continued support.
  10. Back then you had snow tires, a shovel, a couple hundred pounds of weight in the trunk, and chains in case you needed them. Now everyone believes that "all-season" tires will get you anywhere you want to go.
  11. I had bread bags too!! Weren't those the good old days?!
  12. Remember when girls wore snow pants to school? We had to wear dresses and when it was cold we were allowed to wear snow pants under our skirts but had to take them off when we got to school. Times have really changed!
  13. Marty Hrin of Hrin Masonry put the blocks back on the sides of the mausoleum.
  14. It is the Childs' Mausoleum because Edmund, Annie and Rosa Childs are interred there.
