DuBoiser, no signs of bugs or caterpillars! Like I said, it was fine and it looked like this within days! I planted this tree about 6 years ago and never had any problems with it.

Thanks Petee. I got these trees from a private grower in Michigan but didn't receive any planting tips. And yes lavender, they are dormant. Would pine chips be good for mulch?

I was just given 2 Crimson King Maple trees. Can someone tell me if they need protected from the frost once they are planted?
