    Bear Alert..

Your right Gator, I have lived here almost 20 years and we always have seen and had Bears in our yard and on our porch. This is the first time we have seen them at 9 in the morning, usually we see them late in the evening that is what surprised us this time. The one bear that usually comes here grabs the bag out of the garbage can and takes into the woods about 50 feet from the house and rips it open and has a picnic. Don't think he got much to eat last night. Wednesday night is Advanced Disposals pickup, but most of us in this close area switched garbage companies and our garbage is picked up on Monday morning.
  2. Anyone living in the Beechwood section of Falls Creek near the Golf Course be on your guard and watch your pets when outside. At 9:10 this morning my wife was doing dishes and saw a Bear cross the driveway right in front of the kitchen window, said it may have been about 200 pounds. Talking with a neighbor found out there are 3 or 4 older Bears and a Baby Bear all together in the area.
  3. My wife and I are the same way, we never miss it. One of our favorite shows.
  4. Wife and J had to go to Brookville today so took back road came out on Route 322 at Brookville Wood Products, took 322 to Brookville. In Emerckville, Jefferson County, right near the road The Crew from "Barwood Builders" was tearing down an old barn. It is a TV program where this group from West Virginia go all over taking old barns apart board by board and reuse them to build barns and cabins for people that want the old would used for their project. Did a news search online for the story. The ONLY place I found the story was the Derrick Newspaper. I do not subscribe online to it so could not share it. But in our own back yards and no local coverage that I could find.
  5. You are welcome. Hope you find her a good phone with a good plan.
  6. I am not trying to pry into your mom's business so please do not answer any of these questions on here. But if your mom is on Medicaid, S.S.I. is very low income or receives food stamps (SNAP Program) she could qualify for a FREE Cell Phone and FREE Minutes, Texts and Data. It is called SafeLink. It is also through TracFhone and they have Smart Phones and used to have regular Cell Phones. I believe you get 350 Free Minutes, Unlimited Texts and 2.5 GB of Data Free every month. To keep your service active you have to make at least ONE phone call every month. They have phones that use Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile as well. Web site is safelink.com for all the info and to choose your phone and your minutes plan. As I said it is through TracFone also.

    Taco Bell

I did not take it that you were being snippy. We drove across the front if the Mall and stopped at the Stop Sign by Dunhams to turn and go to the back of the Mall. When I looked left for oncoming traffic and saw the back and one side of the building but could not see their sign. We did not have time to turn and go up to see what was going on. That is why I posted on here to see if anyone knew. Thank you for confirming they are remodeling.

    Taco Bell

Does anyone know what is going on with Taco Bell in DuBois? My wife and I went to DuBois today and went by Taco Bell this afternoon. The entire one side and the back of Taco Bell is completely ripped up on the outside. Just wondered if anyone knew anything. Thank you in advance.
  10. There is a Handicap Support Group in St. Mary's "Life Independence for Today" (L.I.F.T.) they may be able to help or give you an idea of where you may get help. Phone number is 1-800-341-LIFT. They are located at the top of Arch Street Ext. They cover a 5 county area including Clearfield and Jefferson.
  11. This is not a cookie so please forgive me but I saw this on Live with Regis and Kelly this morning, it was the first that I had ever heard of it, but it looked so good. I found a recipe online. It is a Crack Pie and here is the recipe. The one on the show this morning looked like they sprinkled powder sugar on it after it was baked. Ingredients 1 9" unbaked pie shell 1 cup granulated sugar 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar 1 tablespoon fine cornmeal 5 eggs 1/3 cup whipping cream 1 tablespoon cider vinegar (optional) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) 1/2 cup melted butter Directions Combine granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and corn meal. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in whipping cream, cider vinegar, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake on middle rack at 400 F for 10 minutes. (this helps create the CRACK) Lower heat to 325 F and continue baking for 45 minutes more.
  12. Thanks, I didn't know what the (sic) stood for.
  13. I have only lived in this area for about 25 years. I checked out the web site and the picture says it runs between DuBois and Hall's Creek.......Where was Hall's Creek? Is that what is known as Falls Creek now?
