    Perhaps the takeover of the city by the township should now be expedited in order to get better transparency.

    The ballot question that passed - “Shall the Township of Sandy and the City of DuBois consolidate to form a new Third Class City to be called the City of DuBois … ?” The answer was yes by the majority of voters in both municipalities.

    I saw a sample ballot and the mayor is running for reelection this year as a Republican. I didn't see a challenger listed in the primary or any Democrat vying for the position. Also, it seems like a conflict of interest for the solicitor to represent both the mayor and the city in this case.

    I could never understand why people in Sandy Township opposed consolidation. There are more people, voters, in the township than in the city. If they want, people in the township will have their way in the new city, be it called Sandyville or DuBois.

    According to a story on WTAJ’s website, most on the missing money, 1/4 million dollars, came from the firemen’s community days accounts and the parade account, about $150,000 and $100,000. That money was probably donated by the people and businesses of the DuBois area and could easily be manipulated.
