  1. Donald J. Morelli, age 88 of Brockport, PA died Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home. Born on June 2, 1934 in Dagus Mines, PA, he was the son of the late Tulio and Mary (Corn) Morelli. On December 31, 1952, he married his wife of 70 years, Josephine W. (Lockwood) Morelli. She survives and lives in Brockport, PA. Donald retired from Owens Brockway as a supervisor after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Moorhead United Methodist Church in Brockway, PA and the Sons of Italy in Brockway, PA. Donald enjoyed hunting and gardening, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his son (Paul M. Morelli and his wife Diana of Brockport, PA), his daughter (Susan E. Homan and her husband Kenneth of DuBois, PA), four grandchildren (Lori and Andrew Morelli, Emmy Homan and Michele Vanish), and four great grandchildren (Joseph, Tiffany, Cameron and Sorren). Donald was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. A private family funeral service was held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with his son, Evangelist Paul Morelli officiating.   2. Christopher M. Frantz, age 63 formerly of Troutville, PA died Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on December 14, 1959 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Floyd and Donna (Freese) Frantz. Christopher worked for Beaver Meadow Creamery for 35 years. He enjoyed working on his vehicles, fishing and he loved junk food. Christopher is survived by his children (Robert Frantz of DuBois, PA , and Bryon Frantz and his wife Trista of Troutville, PA); three grandchildren (Kaylee, Jackson, and Isaac Frantz); and two sisters (Sherri Rowles of Troutville, PA, and Mary Yeatman of DuBois, PA.   3. Robert A. Slade, age 83 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his home. Born on September 2, 1939 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late George and Ida (Scharf) Slade. On January 1, 2000, he married Cheryl D. Hawley Husted. She survives. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had worked as an over the road truck driver for 31 years and was affectionately known as “Hit and Run”. Robert was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Sandy Hose Company #1 Fireman’s Club and the Sykesville Eagles and was an avid collector of classic cars. He was the founder of Keep It Simple in Louisville, KY, a half-way house for people struggling with addictions, and had done volunteer work at Home of the Innocent, an organization that catered to abused children, also in Louisville, KY. Robert is survived by his children; (Robert Slade, Jr. of Louisville, KY, Melissa Slade, Christina Slade and Mark Slade all of Elmyra, NY), step children; (Clark Husted of DuBois, PA and Tracy Denison of Daytona Beach, FL), and one sister (Carol Pagio of Clermont, FL). He was preceded in death by one son (Fran Slade), one brother (George Slade) and one sister (Elaine Smith. Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Lakeside United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. from the church with Pastor Peggy Senior officiating. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.   4. Lawrence J. “Larry” Smiley, age 72 of Falls Creek, PA died Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at his home. Born on June 14, 1950 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Orville and Theresa “Toots” (Uhrin) Smiley. Larry was a graduate of DuBois Area High School Class of 1968. He went on to graduate from Williamsport Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. On June 4, 1983, he married Cathy D. (Moore) Smiley. Cathy and Larry would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in June. Larry worked for Copes Valcon in Erie, PA, then Speer Carbon Company in St. Marys, PA for 32 years. He also worked for Mid-State Amusement in DuBois, PA, RNI Trucking in Falls Creek, PA and Fran Morelli Bus Company in Brockway, PA. Larry was active in all sports his entire life including; hunting, fishing, wrestling, football and especially baseball. He played Little League, Teener League and Federation Ball for the Falls Creek Eagles. Along with his love of his family, he was also a devoted officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #965 in Falls Creek, PA for over 50 years. He loved life and lived it to the fullest until his health began to fail him a few short years ago. Larry was loved by his family and was called “Uncle Larry” by everyone. He will be missed by all. Larry is survived by one daughter (Megan Smiley of Pittsburgh, PA), two brothers (Robert Smiley and his wife Star of Falls Creek, PA and Patrick Smiley and his wife Peggy of DuBois, PA), numerous nieces and nephews that he loved, his good buddy and father-in-law, Charlie “Pappy” Moore and his beloved dog Ellie. He was preceded in death by one brother (Thomas Smiley). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 6 PM – 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc.   5. Emily J. Adair, age 88 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on September 18, 1934 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Powers and Judy (Kerneski) Thunberg. Emily was a homemaker. She is survived by her children (Terry Gasbarre and her husband Bill, Gail Dezanet and her husband Tom, John Frantz and his wife Julie, and Jody Frantz and his wife Jean), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one sister (Judy Boron and her husband Jim). Emily was preceded in death by her husband Jim Adair, her husband David Frantz, Sr., her son David Frantz, Jr., two sisters and one brother. A private family service was held at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Father Edward Walk as celebrant. Burial took place in St. Michael Cemetery.   6. Geneva A. Malewicz, age 103 passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Christ the King Manor on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Born on October 31, 1919 in Tyler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (Brzuszek) Malek. On July 5, 1941 she married Chester J. Malewicz. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1987. Before her marriage, Geneva had worked at Sylvania in Emporium, PA. She then worked, and retired from Brockway Glass after many years of service. Geneva was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. She was a member, and past president of the Pulaski Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by one daughter (Carol Lewis and her husband Gus of Pittsburgh, PA), two grandchildren (Jonathan Lewis of Erie, PA and Jennifer Palermo and her husband Jaison of Pittsburgh, PA), and three great grandchildren (Elliott and Max Palermo and Alexandria Lewis). She was preceded in death by one daughter (Delores "Dolly" Malewicz) on June 5, 2022. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 3 PM - 6 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 10 AM - 11AM from the chapel at Christ the King Manor, 1100 West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.   7. William J. Good, age 84 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, April 15, 2023 at his home. Born on November 8, 1938 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Vincent and Helen (Sovich) Good. William was a 1957 graduate of Sandy High School. On June 27, 1964 he married Virginia (Sephalski) Good. She survives. William was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He had worked at BF Goodrich and then the Riverside Warehouse, where he worked as a general merchandise foreman, retiring from there after many years of service. William was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister. William was very active in the St. Michael Polish Festival where he was in charge of the hot dog booth for many years. He was also a member of The Holy Name Society, Pulaski Club, and the Polish American Veterans. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and Penn State wrestling and football fan, but especially enjoyed being with his family. William is also survived by his children (Julie Hassan and her husband Mike of DuBois, PA and Matthew Good of Erie, PA), grandchildren (Michael Hassan and his wife Christa of Dormont, PA and Megan Hassan and her fiancé Kristian Larsen of Falls Church, VA), one great granddaughter (Raegan Hassan), and two brothers (John “Jack” Good and Robert Good and his wife Denise both of DuBois, PA). He was preceded in death by one sister (Helen Ann Dillman). Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 10 AM from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Charles Kaza and Msgr. Richard Siefer as con-celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.   8. Robert D. “Bob” Cooper, age 77 of DuBois, PA died Friday, April 14, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on April 24, 1945, he was the son of the late Arnold and Dorothy (Slaven) Cooper. Bob graduated from the DuBois Area High School Class of 1963. He enlisted in the United State Navy in 1965 and served two terms from 1967 and 1968 in Danang Vietnam. On June 14, 1969 he married Pamela Jean Spicher in DuBois, PA. Bob worked for Penn Flavor Seal, Jeffers Electronic and McDowell Manufacturing all in DuBois, PA, and N.N. Moss Furniture Store in Greenville, PA. He then started his career as an agent for the Prudential Insurance Company in 1972, was first promoted to Sales Manager in the Grove City office in 1974 and then to Sales Manager in the Brookville office where he remained until his retirement in 1988. Bob attended Roseville Independent Church in Brookville, PA. His many hobbies included hunting, fishing, fly tying, woodworking and wood carving. Bob was a volunteer fireman for the Third Ward Hose Company from 1963 – 1969. He was a charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Grove City, PA, a member of the Brookville Honor Guard, Post 17 American Legion DuBois, and the Hormtown Rifle and Pistol Club. He was a life member, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, National Rifle Association and the Sigel Sportsman’s Club. Bob had a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. His faith made him a champion fighter even after 35 years of significant health issues. He never met a stranger, and had a tender and kind soul. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Bob loved his family and his Lord Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, two sons (Arnold (Denise) Cooper and Brian (Kelley) Cooper, and four grandchildren (Zachary, Justin, Jayna and Noah Cooper). Bob was preceded in death by two brothers William and Gregory Cooper. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 2 PM – 4 PM & 6 PM – 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11 AM from the funeral home with Pastor James Fillhart officiating. Interment will take place in Morningside Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.   9. Howard Albert “Punk” Smith, age 73, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on June 8, 1949, in DuBois, PA to his two loving parents, the late Howard Smith and Helen Gordon. Howard served in the Army Reserves. Howard married Lee Ann Licatovich Smith on May 27, 1978. She survives. Punk retired as a warehouse foreman from Claster’s in DuBois after many years of service. Howard is also survived by his son, Thomas Bender of DuBois PA, his two daughters (Shayna Ireland, wife of John Ireland, of Malta, NY and Erin Smith, Orlando, FL), his sister (Carol and her husband Ben Anderson, of Falls Creek, PA) and six grandchildren (Kateyln, Thomas, and Sophie Bender, Everlie Ireland, and Nyx and Ryze Hickman). Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Ed Miller. There are not enough words in the world to describe all the smiles and happiness that Howard has brought to the world. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and the world’s best grandpa. Punk loved playing pool, listening to music, golfing, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his best friend, Dave Gritzer and his wife, Jeanine Gritzer, of Pittsburgh, PA. Howard will be immensely missed by everyone who knew him. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 11 AM – 12 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   10. Cathy- Jill Robinson, age 70 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on October 27, 1952 in Sayre, PA a daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Shirley Jean (Miller) Ennis. On July 31, 1971 she married Daniel Louis Robinson. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2007. Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Evangelical Covenant Church, DuBois. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid quilter and embroider and enjoyed crafting. Mrs. Robinson is survived by her children; Josephine (Candy Marie) DeCarlo and her husband Scott of DuBois, PA and Eric Jay Robinson and his wife Betty of Goldsboro, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Isaiah (Kayla) Robinson, Grace Robinson, Fawn Marie Guignet, Raven Ann (Zack) Curl, Hannah DeCarlo and Sarah DeCarlo. Two great grandchildren, Kennedy Curl and Noah Robison. She is survived by brothers, Joe (Diane) Ennis of Sayre, PA and Timothy Ennis of San Diego, CA and sister, Lori-Beth Porter, Elmira, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Michael Robinson; granddaughter, MacKenzie DeCarlo; siblings Michael, Anthony, Ronnie Ennis and Charma-Jean Ennis. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 6:00 PM from Bethany Evangelical Covenant Church, 26 East Long Ave, DuBois, PA.   11. Marc A. Andruk, age 54 of DuBois, PA died Monday, March 27, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born on December 13, 1968 at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, MO, he was the son of the late Gilbert J. Andruk and Toni Clark-Moulthrop. His mother survives and lives in DuBois, PA. Marc moved to DuBois from Kansas in 2017. He joined the workforce of Welcome Home Centers in Brockway. Out of all the occupations he held, carpentry was what he loved most. It was at this place where he became a craftsman. It was his best fit. He loved the people there and they loved him. When Marc clocked out of work, he loved spending his time with family. He adored his daughters and son; they were his proudest accomplishments. His two young grandchildren made Marc’s heart smile and they completed his happiness. Marc made many friends over his lifetime. One in particular, Vincent Ercolani, was like a second brother to Marc. Marc had many loves, especially his children and grandchildren. When he wasn’t being Mr. Mom, he really enjoyed playing video games, writing poetry, reading comic books (Batman was his favorite, by far). He loved watching football, preferably the Rams. Most of all Marc loved listening to music – from Carly Simon to heavy metal (KISS Army Forever \../). Having grown up in New York, he had an animated way of expressing himself – especially in traffic. Marc had an incredible natural sense of humor. He was hilarious! He will be profoundly missed. We love you, Marc! Marc is survived by his children (Kayla Andruk of Levinworth, KS, Joseph Andruk, Emilee Andruk, Victoria Andruk, and Gabriella Andruk all of DuBois, PA, two grandchildren (Tyrone Goodwin, Jr. and Gideon Goodwin), and his stepfather (Michael Moulthrop).   12. Stanley L. “Squirt” Johns, age 93 of Brockway, PA died Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at his home. Born on January 17, 1930 in Brookville, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley E. and Betty (McNeil) Johns. Squirt was a veteran of the United States Army , having served during the Korean War. On July 15, 1953 he married Lola M. (Bazzoli) Johns. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2020. He was a self-employed mechanic at The John’s Garage & Parts in Brockway, PA for 50 years and in 1984 started MIF, Inc. Squirt was a racing legend. He began his career in 1950 in Clarion, PA and predominantly raced in New York at Stateline and Eriez Speedways. With 44 career wins at Stateline, he sits third all-time behind only Dick Barton & Bobby Schnars. Stateline track champion in 1961, 1963 and 1970. He also had 19 career wins and a 1967 track championship at Eriez to his name. As well as the Stateline /Eriez circuit champion in 1963, 1969 & 1970 to note just a few accomplishments in his successful racing career. Squirt is survived by his children (Joni Paladino and her husband John and Edward Johns, both of Brockway, PA), two grandchildren (Jacey Tygert and her husband Andrew, and Jada Paladino), and one great granddaughter (Liberty Tygert).   13. Allene “Joan” Lott, age 88 of Troutville, PA died Monday, March 27, 2023 at her home. Born on October 12, 1934 in Troutville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Vera (Ellinger) Shepler. Joan was a 1953 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. On June 27, 1953 she married Miles C. Lott. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2016. Joan had worked in a retail store, and in a shoe factory. She was also a bookkeeper and a demonstrator for Stanley Home Products for many years. She also played accordion and piano professionally. Joan was a member of a few different dance bands, playing for square dances around the area, and also played many polkas and slow dances. Apart from playing music, Joan also loved socializing with relatives and friends, and shopping and traveling with Miles. Joan is survived by her children; Miles Lott, Jr. and his wife Debra and Susan Wyant and her husband Raymond, three grandchildren; Jason Shimmel and his wife Dana, Kaitlin Shimmel Wyant and her husband Raymond, Jr. and Monetta Salyers and her husband Ryan, nine great grandchildren, siblings; Howard Shepler and his wife Thelma and Naomi Pifer and her husband Edward, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.   14. Charlotte A. (Gilbert) Wachob, age 81 of Troutville, PA died Monday, March 27, 2023 at Punxsutawney Hospital. Born on June 8, 1941 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Margaret Shaffer Gilbert. On July 23, 1960 she married John E. “Jack” “Pap” Wachob at Salem United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2016. Charlotte was a homemaker and had previously worked as a waitress at the Bobette. Charlotte was always on the go. She took great joy in visiting with her family and friends. She loved her flower garden, doing puzzles and making her strawberry jelly and her famous fudge. Charlotte is survived by four daughters; (Pam (Manny) Klaiber of DuBois, PA, Connie (Bill) Johnston of Troutville, PA, Bonnie Gray and her companion Brian of Wharton, PA, and Jacqueline (Bryan) Haag of Troutville, PA), eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and her siblings; (James Gilbert, Shirley Wells, Charles Gilbert, Betty McAninch, Anna Gilbert and Dennis Gilbert).   15. Arthur “Keith” Smith, Sr. age 89 of DuBois, PA died Friday, March 24, 2023 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on June 5, 1933 in Falls Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Fred D. and M. Eileen (Jones) Smith. Keith was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. On November 18, 1955 he married his wife Joyce E. (Hetrick) Smith. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2006. Keith was a 1952 graduate of the Reynoldsville Sykesville High School and a 1956 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. Keith worked as an Account Executive/ Broker for Brockway Glass for 17 years and went on to work for, and retire from Swift Kennedy Insurance after 14 years of service. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois where he was very active in church affairs. He was a member of the Garfield Lodge # 559 Free & Accepted Masons, and the Shrine Club. Keith had a long history with the Jaycees on both the local and state level. He was the recipient of the DuBois Jaycees Distinguished Service Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020. Keith served as a member of the Board of Director at the DuBois Nursing Home for many years. He had served the nursing home board as President and had a part in initiating the merger with the DuBois Village to form the DuBois Continuum of Care Community. Keith has also served as President of the Haven House Shelter. Keith is survived by his children; (Deborah Smith and her wife Goli Karimi of Altadena, CA; Keith Smith, Jr. and his wife Sherri of Luthersburg, PA and Cheryl Floyd & her husband Brad of Red Lion, PA), six grandchildren (Dylan, Grant, & Mason Smith, and T.J. & Dustin Floyd & his wife Melissa, and Devon Harbaugh & her husband Seth), six great grandchild, and two sisters; (Janet Guthridge of DuBois, PA and Molly Shaffer of Falls Creek, PA).   16. David C. Shaffer, age 72 of Rockton, PA died Friday, March 17, 2023 at his home. Born on August 18, 1950 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Vernon and E. Vaughn (Bailey) Shaffer. David retired from Union Township in August of 2020 after many years of service. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid gun and motorcycle collector. David is survived by one sister, (Linda Olewnick and her husband Steve of DuBois, PA), two nieces (Errin Wischhusen and her husband Trevor, and their children Eva and Devan and Jessica McKee and her husband Ben and their son Killian).   17. Donald Eugene Liedl, Sr. , age 89 of Falls Creek, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Christ the King Manor. Born on April 16, 1933 in Reynoldsville, PA, he was the son of the late Henry and Hazel (Smith) Liedl. Don was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Don married his wife Sylvia (Hughes) Liedl on June 9, 1956. She proceeded him in death on March 9, 2020. He was also proceeded in death by his son Henry, granddaughter Amy, brother Bill, and sister Ruth. He graduated from the Reynoldsville High School Class of 1951. Don retired from Collins and Nolder of Falls Creek. Don was an active member of Saint Bernard Roman Catholic Church and Holy Name Society for many years. He was also a member of the Falls Creek Eagles, a 30-year member of the Falls Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and was active in the JCARC and Camp Friendship. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening , and had a passion for hunting ginseng with his friend Parker. He is survived by two sons (Donald of Falls Creek, PA and Douglas of Reynoldsville, PA), three sisters (Mary Hannah of Reynoldsville, PA, and Catherine Johnson and Carol Rokosky, both of DuBois, PA), 6 grandchildren (Megan, Jennifer, Adam, Tim, Bethany, & Beverly) and four great grandchildren (Billy, Allison, Alivia, and Adalynn).   18. Eva L. Powers, age 93 of DuBois, PA died Monday, March 20, 2023 at the DuBois Village. Born on November 20, 1929 in Akron, OH, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Lena (Gearhart) Neilson. In 1948 she married Daniel Powers, Sr. He preceded her in death in 1955. Eva retired as a machinist from Rockwell International Manufacturing after 40 years of service. After her retirement, she worked as a baker at Fezell’s Shop n’ Save for several years. Eva belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brookville, PA. She loved to bake, do puzzles, and play cards. She also loved her daily glass of wine.   20. Grace A. Muth, age 88 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on November 4, 1934 in Brady Township, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mazie (Hennman) London. On November 13, 1971 she married her husband of 51 years, C. “Earl” Muth. He survives. She was the manager and bookkeeper for Earl Muth Equipment for 50 years. Grace was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Chat n’ Sew quilting group. She enjoyed camping and country music. Along with her husband, Grace is also survived by her son Richard Muth and his wife Shelley of DuBois, PA, one granddaughter Toryn Muth, one sister Alice Huey of Las Vegas, NV and three nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen London and one brother-in-law, Robert Huey.   22. Peter Surkala, Age 93 of Falls Creek, PA entered Heaven on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Born on October 20, 1929 in Elnora, PA he was the son of the late George and Mary Fedorchak Surkala. On December 17, 1955 he married his wife of 63 years, Reetha L. (Fillers) Surkala. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2019. Pete was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He retried from Rockwell International Manufacturing as a nightwatchman. Previous to that, Pete had worked at the Crescent Brick Company as a pressman and the B.& O Car Shop as a carman. Pete attended the Gospel Center and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved his three cats, Kimba, Reeko, & Mikey.   24. Lance B Benton, age 73 of DuBois, PA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Lance was born on October 24, 1949 in Monterey, CA. He was the son of the late Herbert A. and Evelyn Ruth (Beachy) Benton, the second of four children. He was a graduate of Kittanning Senior High School in 1967 and of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1971. On August 22, 1970 in Kittanning, PA, he married his wife of 52 years, Evelyn L. (Dunmire) Benton. Lance attended IUP and entered the US Army through ROTC. Upon graduation, he entered Armor training school in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He graduated from Armor school near the top of his class, however in 1971 the Army was reducing forces, so Lance was transferred to the PA National Guard to fulfill his military duty. With his career ambition of serving active duty military now unavailable, he found a perfect fit with an Armor unit in Ligonier and he returned to his college job at the Indiana Gazette in the circulation department. Lance retired as Captain of Co. A 1/103rd Armor, 28th Division, National Guard of Ligonier, PA in 1982. While Lance loved his job at the Gazette, he soon learned that he truly wanted to be an entrepreneur. In 1977, Lance began his journey in business. Lance eventually founded Buck’s Pizza with his wife and family which he grew as a franchise across the nation for many years before finally opening local locations in 2010. Lance had a gift for marketing and loved being in business to develop employees and serve customers. He was dedicated to serving food that he was proud to take home to his own family. Besides spending time with his family and friends, Lance enjoyed reading, traveling, hunting, fishing, cooking and clearing his farm property - his fortress of solitude. In Lance’s younger days, he also enjoyed boating, golfing and snow skiing. Lance’s passion for food extended to his home. He loved to feed his family. Food was one of his love languages. Lance had a gift for storytelling and enjoyed a great sense of humor. He was authentic, thoughtful, and caring. No one who met Lance could forget his infectious smile and love for others. Lance was a family man. Family meant everything to him. He is survived by his loving wife, Evy, his two sons, Nathan Benton and Joshua (Wendy) Benton of DuBois PA, and his daughter, Gretchen (Ryan) Meyers of Westfield, NJ. He is also survived by his three siblings, Christian (Alana) Benton of DuBois, PA, Susan (Rip Ballou) Benton of Washington, DC, and Amy (Tom Chase) Benton of Frederick, MD. He has 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild – Brandon (Maggie) Benton, Kayla (Anthony) Black, Laurel Benton, Hunter Benton; Lincoln, Olivia, Naomi and Josephine Meyers; Hank and Julia Benton; and Sienna Black. He is also survived and loved by his wife’s siblings: Denny Dunmire (deceased) and Karen Dunmire, Anne (Terry) Bumpers, Jeanne (Bruce) Watson, Robbie (Bob) Jack, Marian (John) Morris, Kaye (Mike) Woytowish, Arleen (Rob) Pryde, Carole (Greg Wyant) Shepard, Nancy (Tim) Bowser, Laura (Charles) Himes. He is also beloved by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Robert and Gertrude (Henry) Dunmire. There will be no public visitation.   25. Joan C. Robertson, Age 79 of DuBois, PA died Friday, March 3, 2023 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. Born on March 13, 1943 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis & Christine (Slack) Alburg. On April 8, 1972, she married Douglas “Alan” Robertson. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2012. Joan had worked in the art department at Jackson China and had worked for Weight Watchers for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church where she was very active in church affairs. Joan was also a member of the Contemporary Women’s Club of DuBois and enjoyed traveling and doing crafts. Joan is survived by two children, (Crystal L. Sayers & her husband Shawn of DuBois, PA, and Brent A. Robertson & his wife Ainsley of Lake Mary, FL), 5 grandchildren (Tate, Gavin, and Reese Sayers, and Elsie Jane & Bevan Robertson), a great grandson, (Cleo Sayers), and a sister (Patricia “Patty” Melani of DuBois, PA).
