More than 1,000 cases reported in midwestern U.S.
 
The dog flu outbreak in the Midwest is growing. Health officials say more than a thousand cases of H3N2 have been reported in Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana and 6 dogs have died.
 
The new flu strain is usually found in Asia and has never been seen in the U.S. It is highly contagious and can even be passed on to cats.
 
Cough, fever and sluggishness are the first symptoms of this strain of dog flu. In the Chicago area which has been hard hit, the staff at one animal hospital now suit up in protective gear during examination
