The black bear was seen earlier near the Proctor House and is shown in the video perched about 20 ft. up in a tree off of Erie Avenue. St. Marys Police were on scene awaiting the arrival of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. MARYS Posted Yesterday At 10:07am ALL JOKING ASIDE, IT WAS A UNIQUE AND SOMEWHAT SCARY SITUATION WHEN A BEAR WAS SPOTTED SUNDAY MORNING NEAR THE PROCTOR HOUSE ON NORTH MICHAEL STREET. ACCORDING TO REPORTS, THE BEAR WAS APPARENTLY HIT BY A VEHICLE AND WANDERED ON FROM THE ACCIDENT. HE EVENTUALLY HIKED UP A TREE TO REST. OFFICIALS WITH THE PENNSYLVANIA GAME COMMISSION HIT THE 100 POUND MALE BEAR WITH A TRANQUILIZER DART, WHICH ALLOWED THEM TO REMOVE THE BEAR FROM THE TREE.
