Shirley (Kirk) Shively Erickson, age 86 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

Born on July 14, 1934 in Rockton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Gertrude (Weber) Kirk.

In 1995 she married Donald H. Erickson. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2014.

Shirley had worked as a communication dispatcher for the Police Department in Hollywood, FL for 28 years.

She had a strong faith and was very active within Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois. Shirley had a wonderful creative side- always impressing her friends and family with her knitting and sewing projects. Not to mention, her ability to whip up a delicious meal in minutes, while also being able to spot a crumb on the floor a mile away. She was clever and incredibly sarcastic, not afraid to tell it like it is. Every summer she looked forward to spending time with her granddaughter, baking cookies, making Shepard’s pie, and going to the family farm. She also loved her dachshunds puppies and cared for 3 generations of Misty’s. Undoubtedly, Shirley will be missed by friends and family alike.

She is survived by her children; (Chris Shively and his wife Angela of FL and Scott Shively of DuBois, PA), one sister (Jane Whitehouse) and one granddaughter (Dana Shively).

She was preceded in death by one son (Jeffrey Shively), brothers; (Lawrence, Sidney, Emil “Blaise” and Glenn Kirk) sisters; (Mildred Kirk, Avonelle Swope and Elsie Place).

There will be no public visitation.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11 a.m. from Lakeside United Methodist Church with Pastor Brett Dinger officiating.

Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 420 First Street, DuBois, PA 15801.

The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
