H. Michael “Mike” Veltri, age 75 of Reynoldsville, PA died Monday, May 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness.

 

Born on May 1,1946 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph “Blackie” Veltri, Sr. and Helen (Landini) Ralston.

 

On August 8, 1970 he married his wife of 50 years, Lynda Eilene (Fersak) Veltri. She survives.

 

He was a 1964 graduate of Brockway Area Highschool and was a 1968 graduate of Saint Francis University, earning his bachelor of arts in education.  For over 15 years he was a history and economics teacher at the Punxsutawney Area High School.  Following his career in education, Mike was a successful State Farm agent in the Reynoldsville, Clarion, and Rimersburg areas for over 25 years.

 

Mike was best known for his love of jokes and humor and love of his family.  He was a life-long hunter and fly fisherman and spent innumerable days enjoying these activities with his family and closest friends.  He enjoyed spending any time that he could taking in the beauty of God’s creation, which he enjoyed on afternoon rides with his cousin John Michael Landini.  In his younger years Mike played for the Brockway Area High School football and baseball teams, and was a wrestler at St. Francis University.  He was also an accomplished trumpeter, receiving the John Philip Sousa award for his accomplishments.

 

Along with his wife, Mike is survived by a daughter, Gretchen Gray-Licatovich and her husband Brian; two grandchildren, Morgan and Dallas Gray; three step-grandchildren Eric, Jaron, and Taryn Licatovich; his six half-siblings, Fr. Dennis Veltri, Christina Veltri, Joseph Veltri, Jr., Ricky Veltri, Diane Dickerson, and George “Buddy” Veltri.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 2 PM- 4 PM & 6 PM -8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10 AM from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer, his brother Father Dennis Veltri and Father Adam Verona con celebrating.

 

Burial will take place in St. Tobias Cemetery.

 

Although flowers are appreciated, the family asks that individuals donate blood to a blood bank of their choice if they are physically capable or to donate to the Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York, 2646 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16508, in Mike’s memory.
