Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — DuBois city police have charged a Brookville woman after she was accused of abusing her newborn child while still in the hospital, according to a criminal complaint.

Police say Tiffany Harrison, 32, is charged with child endangerment and simple assault, according to online court records.

Investigators say on Nov. 2, 2021, officers were dispatched to Penn Highlands DuBois for a report of child abuse.

Police say that a nurse midwife told officers that she witnessed Harrison pick the 5-day-old baby up by one arm and swing the child onto the bedThe midwife added that the child was crying, and bruising was observed on the child's left arm, police noted in the complaint.

Police say the nurse "feared for the baby's safety" and told officers that Harrison's actions were "aggressive and alarming."

Authorities say the child was removed from the room and placed into the custody of Jefferson County Children and Youth Services.

Harrison was arraigned on the charges Friday, court dockets show, and she was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28.
