Volpe, Stephen.jpg
Stephen R. Volpe, Age 75 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, June 18, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on January 26, 1947 in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of the late John & Yolanda Meraglia Volpe.

Steve was a veteran of the United States Navy having served as a Coxswain Assault Boat Operator during Vietnam.

He was a graduate of DuBois Central Christian High School and Prince George County Community College with a degree in marketing.

Steve began his financial services career with Prudential Financial Services in the suburbs of Washington D.C.   As a personal producer, he received many awards and rewards.  He successfully sold his sales culture ideas to a large Maryland Bank.  He was hired as a Senior Treasury Officer and was charged with the development of a sales unit that serviced the needs of the bank’s high worth clients. He then accepted a position with Swift Kennedy Financial in DuBois, PA. With his continued growth, in January of 1997, Swift Kennedy & Associates was born with Steve as its President, CEO, and sole stockholder.  Health Challenges and a desire to spend more time with his family led to his decision to sell the business and retire.  When sold, the agency was among the top 13 agencies in Western and Central Pennsylvania.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, the DuBois Shriners Club and the Garfield Lodge # 559 Free & Accepted Masons.  Steve was a past member of the Board of Directors for the DuBois YMCA, the DuBois Housing Authority, and the DuBois Area United Way where he had served as President of the board.  He had been a member of the DuBois Area Jaycees and the DuBois Kiwanis Club.  When he was at DuBois Central, he was an undefeated, two-time Pennsylvania state champion wrestler.  He enjoyed golfing, boating, and shooting trap & skeet. Steve also cherished his time with his friends and their many adventures.

His proudest accomplishment was being a dad and papa to his children and grandchildren.  He is survived by two daughters (Lisa and Jenna Volpe, both of DuBois, PA), his son (Anthony Volpe & his wife Marcy of DuBois, PA), grandson (Mathue Volpe), granddaughter (Mia Volpe), Linda Volpe of DuBois, PA, his wife of 36 years, and a brother (David Volpe & Katherine Price of Arnold, MD), two sisters (Renee VanWie & her husband John of Stevensville, MD, and Kim Volpe Abdelaziz & her husband Shakri of Chicago, IL), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 10 a.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Full military honors will be accorded from the church by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.

Steve was always committed to serving the community and making our area a better place to live.  The family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in the DuBois Area.
