Stations of the Cross Series, Station #6, Friday, March 17th by Fr. Ben Daghir & Luke Daghir

Editor's Note: Fr. Ben Daghir and Luke Daghir will have 14 articles based upon the stations of the cross. The 14th article will conclude on Easter Sunday.

Article:
The 6th Station: Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.

The name Veronica is worth mentioning as it means “true icon” or “true image.” In Jesus, we truly see the face of the Father and the true image of humanity.

It is only in Jesus where humanity can properly see itself. Pope St. John Paul II often stated, “without the Gospels, humanity remains a dramatic question with no adequate answer.” Jesus perfectly reflects the face of the Father’s mercy and the face of the authentic human person. Veronica wipes the face of the true icon, the true image which is the face of Jesus Christ.

“We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you; because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.”
