disgruntled
Is anyone aware of, and could share, the time line for the Tannery Dam/Juniata Lake project? I feel badly for anyone who has a wedding scheduled at the Country Club while that body of water is reduced to a disgusting mud puddle for the duration of whatever is happening. busrolls36
I’m not sure if we have any upcoming weddings or not but I do know we are super busy soon for some reason? But it does look quite the mess and hopefully it doesn’t take too long and they aren’t going to be blocking the entire parking lot
Petee
Drive up to Sabula Dam and see what the DEP has reduced it to, a giant stagnant swamp getting overgrown with weeds. The group that maintained the dam for years was in the process of fixing it twice and got shut down twice even with permits! I would like to know exactly why they will not let the dam be repaired. busrolls36
Wonder what the people that live by sabula dam think since from what I was told years ago that they owned it and nobody was allowed to go fishing or anything there?
Bon
Sabula Lake looks terrible!! I was wondering why it was taking so long to fix the dam, now I know!!
Harvey Mungaknuts
Both are just big mud puddles. If nothing done they will both just fill with silt.

They do own it but not the water that flows through it. That's the same for Tannery Dam. I like that name better because it denotes the actual history of the dam. Juniata? Sounds fluffy instead of real. Even though the water is publicly owned (by the government) the land around it is legally insured by the owners around it. They are responsible for the safety of humans who get into it.
busrolls36
I do have a stupid question though, what happened to the fish? There was a guy this morning trying to fish there and I was going to say something to him but I didn’t disgruntled
Petee
The fish just move to the deepest part of the dam. If they are going to empty it completely, then they will net the fish when they get to a concentrated area and transport them to another location. disgruntled

PennDOT and the City of DuBois will drain the lake by approximately four inches over the next week. Starting September 3rd crews will begin to make repairs on the stone outlet structure under first street. Once construction begins, crews expect work to be completed in a week. disgruntled
busrolls36
Yeah I did see where they were redoing the wall but will the entire road need blocked off by the entrance to the church as well as the comfort suites? I just want to be prepared for anything when I go to work next week

I was recently wondering what is up with that place, it looks awful and those poor houses with docks. I'd be so mad to move in and have it drained later. I think they lowered it (Tannery) by more than four inches--looks like even more than 4 feet.

Apparently they finally got permission to do some kind of work at Sabula Dam so maybe it will be fixed before winter.
