Michael Syktich, age 92 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.


Born on August 14, 1932 in Smith Mill, PA, he was the son of the late John and Nancy (Mohnal) Syktich.


He was a 1950 graduate of Madera High School.


On August 8, 1959 he married his wife of 65 years, Lucy B. (Waslosky) Syktich. She survives.

Mike worked in the appliance business for 68 years. He began his career as a television repairman and was well-known as "TV Mike". He continued in television and appliances, and eventually became the owner of Syktich Appliance. In 1995 he retired and sold his business to his son Paul, whom he continued to work alongside of until his passing.


Mike was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where he was an usher and had worked the St. Michael Polish Festival for years.


He had been a member of the Olympic Athletic Club, the Pulaski Club and the Horseshoe Club. Mike loved hunting and gardening.


Along with his wife, Mike is survived by his children (Mary Syktich of DuBois, PA, Steve Syktich and his wife Beverly of Rockton, PA and Paul Syktich and his wife Jackie of DuBois, PA), six grandchildren (Shannon Leonard, Robbie Leonard and his wife Maria, Bryan Syktich, Rachel Steele and her husband Matthew, Erika Syktich and Garret Syktich, and  five great grandchildren (Tyler, Sydney, Aria, Eva and Mila).

He was preceded in death by one daughter (Linda Syktich), seven brothers (Charles, Harry, John, Sam, Stanley, David and Joseph Syktich) and four sisters (Helen Muhaw, Ann Ribelli, Estella Vreeland and Catherine Ordwein).
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 4 - 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 10 AM from Holy Spirit Parish at St. Michael the Archangel with Fr. John Malthaner and Msgr. Richard Siefer as con celebrants.


Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.


Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
