Administrators Pompeii Posted Friday at 02:16 PM Administrators Share Posted Friday at 02:16 PM Mary E. Sleigh, age 90 of Brockway, PA died Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Christ the King Manor. Born on April 12, 1934 in Houtzdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Johathan and Hilda (Hagyard) Hutchinson. On September 8, 1956 she married her husband of 68 years, Samuel J. Sleigh. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2024. Mary was a registered nurse for over 30 years. She graduated from the Philipsburg School of Nursing, and had worked at the Philipsburg General Hospital, the DuBois Regional Medical Center and the Brockway Area School District. She was a member of the Brockway Presbyterian Church, and was awarded the Brockway Woman of the Year in 2015. Mary loved playing cards, especially gin rummy with her husband and her ladies bridge club. She loved going to the ocean, and camping, but above all, she loved time with her family. Mary is survived by a son (James Sleigh and his wife Kim of DuBois, PA), a daughter (Linda Fultz and her husband Dennis of Spring Mills, PA), and three grandsons Sean (Morgon), Thomas, and Justin (Rachel) Sleigh, one sister Hilda Hutchinson of Houtzdale, PA, and one brother Thomas Hutchinson (Ruth Ann) of West Chester, PA. She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Shimel and two brothers, Jonathon and Robert Hutchinson. There will be no public visitation and a private family funeral service will be held with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating. Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Mengle Memorial Library, 324 Main Street, Brockway, PA 15824. The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
