Richard D. “Dick” Trudgen, Sr., age 78 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.


Born on April 18, 1946 in Kittanning, PA, he was the son of the late Richard H. and Pearl (Timmerberg) Trudgen.


On September 9, 1978, he married his wife of 46 years, Bethea “Beth” (Helgert) Trudgen.  She survives.


Dick retired from the DuBois Area School District after a 32 ½ year career as a music teacher. After his retirement, he worked in the parts department of Wilkinson Subaru in Curwensville for 11 years.

Dick attended Christ Lutheran Church and was a member of the Wheels of Yesteryear Car Club.  He was currently the president of the DuBois Area School Retirees, and took great pride in being the conductor of the DuBois Area Community Band and being a member of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.


He is survived by his three children (Stefanie Penvose and her husband Jacob, and Richard Trudgen and his wife Missy, both of DuBois, PA, and Ryan Trudgen of Peoria, AZ), a grandson (William Penvose), four sisters (Pamela Baumgartner of Venice, FL, Cheryl Burke of Fenelton, PA, Dana Ball of Madisonville, KY, and Debra Snyder of Cowansville, PA), and two brothers (Dan Painter, Jr. of Murrells Inlet, SC and Robert Painter of Kittanning, PA).


He was preceded in death by one sister (Barbara Claypoole), and his step father (Dan Painter, Sr.).


Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 2 – 4PM and 6 – 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc


A funeral service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11 AM from Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor John Miller officiating.


Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.


Memorial donations may be made to the DuBois Area Community Band, 413 Randall Court, and/or the DuBois Area Honor Guard, PO Box 907, and/or Christ Lutheran Church Organ Fund, 875 Sunflower Drive, all in DuBois, PA 15801, and/or DuBois Area Retirees Scholarship Fund, Attn: Eloise Kosko, PO Box 219, Luthersburg, PA 15848.
