Administrators Pompeii Posted January 24 Administrators Share Posted January 24 John "Jack" Miller, age 95, of Chestnut Grove, Luthersburg, PA peacefully passed on to his heavenly home at his residence on January 22, 2025. He was born at home in Falls Creek, PA on February 13, 1929 to Jess and Eva (Cobb) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven older siblings; (Merle Miller and wife Madeline, Ross Miller and wife Betty, Jean Eckstein, Donna Weant, Marilyn Camise and husband John, and Martha Hallstrom and husband A.B.). John graduated from Falls Creek School along with fourteen classmates in 1948. He enjoyed playing football, baseball, basketball and softball. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving two combat tours in the Korean War. He was employed by the Bell Telephone Company for 36 years as a deskman in the test center. John married the love of his life Carol (Bourne) Miller on May 27, 1961 in Grantville, MD. She survives along with their five children, three sons (Wesley Miller and wife Kim of Arkansas, Andrew Miller of Pennsylvania, Dan Miller and wife Vicki of Georgia and two daughters Betsy Yost and husband John of Pennsylvania, and Amy Phillips and husband Michael of Pennsylvania). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. John was a member of First Baptist Church of DuBois, PA and drove bus for church and school activities for 19 years. He participated in several mission trips with the church including three trips to Haiti and one to France. He also, had been a private airplane pilot and donated a total of 17 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. He was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers and Airplane Owners Pilot Association. His life was an enduring testimony of faith in Christ, love for family and steadfast leadership through life's blessings and challenges. While our hearts are heavy with the weight of this loss, we find comfort and hope in knowing that he is in the presence of Jesus and the assurance we have that this in not a final goodbye but a "see you later". There will be no public visitation and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will follow in Beechwoods Cemetery.
