Constitutionalist Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 So what happened to consolidation won’t result in tax increases? Now sandy township residents are going to be facing a 30% increase? We were lied to! Go figure! https://www.connectradio.fm/news/tax-restructure-in-dubois Polo 1
BillyC Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 Don't understand why he says you WILL end up saving in the long run.
Ignatius Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 As a resident in DuBois and a business owner in Sandy, I find a tax increase of that amount reprehensible. I am not sure if there is any recourse for the citizens of both municipalities, but we deserve a straight answer.
Constitutionalist Posted September 10, 2025 Author Posted September 10, 2025 I feel like something as big as this, should be. Way to get a hold put on the process.. at the very beginning it was stated taxes wouldn’t go up.

Petee Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Hasn't Sandy Township always been the Scapegoat for DuBois? Is DuBois all Democratic?
bintheredunthat Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Over a year ago in a published statement regarding consolidation the subject of taxation indicated that Sandy Twp residents would experience a tax increase if the consolidation occurred. The increase would allegedly "even out" the taxable values of property in the township versus taxable values of property in DuBois. A 30% increase for twp residents would indicate which area is the more valuable for the future of the upcoming City of DuBois.
Constitutionalist Posted September 11, 2025 Author Posted September 11, 2025 Well ya know what. We are one big city now right? So spread the tax increase out evenly Polo 1

You are acquiescing to the increase, wherever it may be! What needs to occur, is an explicit explanation of the need for the increase along with disclosure of the initial faulty data that lead to the statement of "no tax increase". Basset3 1

Guarantee...the explicit explanation of the need for a tax increase will result in a "word salad" that even Kamala Harris couldn't match. After you've read it 20 times..you still wonder what it meant.
Harvey Mungaknuts Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Everything will go up to match the city. We've been told we'll have to give up our sell water and hook in Polo 1

Pappy Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 I am glad I sold my properties I had in Sandy Township. I knew it was a bad idea for Sandy to merge with DuBois. For those that wanted it I guess they will have to swallow that tax pill without their well water.
