As a resident in DuBois and a business owner in Sandy, I find a tax increase of that amount reprehensible.  I am not sure if there is any recourse for the citizens of both municipalities, but we deserve a straight answer.

Over a year ago in a published statement regarding consolidation the subject of taxation indicated that Sandy Twp residents would experience a tax increase if the consolidation occurred. The increase would allegedly "even out" the taxable values of property in the township versus taxable values of property in DuBois.  A 30% increase for twp residents would indicate which area is the more valuable for the future of the upcoming City of DuBois.

Well ya know what.  We are one big city now right? So spread the tax increase out evenly

Wrong!  You are acquiescing to the increase, wherever it may be!  What needs to occur, is an explicit explanation of the need for the increase along with disclosure of the initial faulty data that lead to the statement of "no tax increase".

Guarantee...the explicit explanation of the need for a tax increase will result in a "word salad" that even Kamala Harris couldn't match.

After you've read it 20 times..you still wonder what it meant.

I am glad I sold my properties I had in Sandy Township. I knew it was a bad idea for Sandy to merge with DuBois. For those that wanted it I guess they will have to swallow that tax pill without their well water.
