Constitutionalist Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Looks like the new city of Dubois will actually be the new sandy township. This oughta be good
Constitutionalist Posted November 5 Author Posted November 5 It really blows my mind as to what goes through peoples heads when they are making their decision at the ballot box. From local races all the way to the top. I can guarantee you, (and please don’t take this as towards our city council election, this is a much broader statement from what I seen across the country last night) if people actually cared, researched the candidates and didn’t listen to what letter was beside the name, our country would be in much better shape! look at the NYC mayor.. what a complete disaster! Better hurry to visit NYC before he takes over.. that place is going to be a complete disaster!! New Jersey and Virginia are a couple more disasters in-wait. our country is in deep peril. Options to fix it are fast running out. BillyC 1

And yes regarding our city council race last night, I’m willing to bet most voters didn’t research anything and just voted for a name they knew… which is why all the sandy supervisors won.. too many new names for people to think.. it hurt their brains BillyC 1

The extended government shutdown, with healthcare costs rapidly increasing, with pricing of all goods also increasing (remember tariffs, just to mention one thing) and so forth, have weighed heavily in the minds of many voters. For some voters, the perceived heavy handedness of the current administration, also energized segments of the democrats. I do not view Mandami as the shape of things to come. I do view the current results as continuing, if the republicans don't get their own house in order. This country has a widening gap between the lower and upper classes, with the middle disappearing. I cannot fathom how the wealth of billionaires is increasing two and three-fold (For example, look at Mark Cuban, or even at our president and his family bearing in mind I am a republican). As for our local election, in another thread, I posted "meet the new boss, the same as the old boss". I stand by the post. BigT 1

I agree with you to a point.. this years elections have no affect on the national stage. Electing new mayors and governors isn’t going to end the shut down, isn’t going to change tariffs. And that’s where I stand by saying people can’t think for themself. If you have any type of brain you realize these elections won’t fix that.
Petee Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Now I think the public has spoken. Anyone for now naming the City of DuBois, the City of Sandy or DuSan, or something completely new with a new identity?

You can give the city a new name but the post office will still use the DuBois name. Mahatma Kane Jeeves 1
Ignatius Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Let's wait to pick a name until Union, Huston and Brady Townships are part of the package!
Petee Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Sorry, I'm not advocating all out rebellion, but will anyone ever see that this is a nightmare? Why can't they just do things in good order and with some forethought. I would have liked to see the name originally changed for psychological reasons, but it's too late for that.

You and everyone else that voted on consolidation already voted on the name. If you voted no to consolidation you voted no to the new name being Dubois. Those that voted yes voted to have the new name being Dubois.
