Hubby came back into the house last evening saying that he couldn't get some boxes out of the mailbox.  Now, we have one of the larger boxes so while I didn't disbelieve him, I figured there was a hitch he hadn't seen but I would.  Of course I marched out to find the problem.  He was right, I pulled, wiggled, squeezed, and after all but swinging from the mailbox like a demented monkey, I finally resorted to a knife, heavy scissors and ripping small pieces out of the edge till I could get a grip with pliers and tear the front off of the box.  Then we finagled the books out of the box and finally the rest of the stuff out of the box.  Then I cut the heavy box in half at the top and together we squeezed the top of the box together till we got it out.

By then we had wiggled the mailbox off of the post and had to take it down to repair the wood underneath.  By the headlights on my truck, hubby fixed it all but next time we will call the Post Office to send some gorilla to get the boxes back out!

What fun we have with challenges that pop up out of the blue!  :drinks:  And no we don't have to drink in order to be crazy!  It's natural.

You may want to speak to your carrier.  Its fine to leave the package in the box as long as one can get it out, but if it is too large, they need to bring it to the porch.  It's common sense.  Then be generous at Christmas time with your tip for the mailperson.  This has always worked for me.

We rarely see our mailman so it's hard to build a relationship which I would prefer, but this may have been a substitute for the day.
