Petee Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I know from my husband's 27 years in the Army, the problems, the successes, the discipline known only in the military, and the benefits for him and I now. If you are considering a career in the military, then ask lots of questions, and get yourself fit, mentally and physically, and ask a LOT of questions. When you are satisfied with the conditions related to working in the military, then get yourself to a recruiter. Be sure of what you are talented at, already well trained for, and can build on in the military training. Going in with nothing means they will find the best position for you (that is open) and they will place you there after any special training needed. You may not have much control of it, so being prepared is an absolute. Nothing is guaranteed but you can definitely swing the odds in your favor if you are prepared. High skills are definitely needed to obtain the specialty you want. You will come out with top job skills. Moving has to be on your list for the future, but getting back to your home town is a high possibility eventually. Party boys rarely succeed without problems. Get your act together before joining. Marriage and family are workable as long as you take time to find the right mate. The spouse has to be prepared for the military life and want it. Dedication is what makes it all doable. There are air, water and land jobs, office jobs, security jobs, medical search and rescue jobs, cooking, maintenance, anything you desire as long as you have the training and aptitude and look for the proper opening in the ranks. Be smart when you prepare. Know what you are looking for. Support of veterans is excellent. I cannot complain about the benefits now because improvements and more consideration of the soldiers themselves by the government has polished the security of the soldier. The soldier is now worth much more than just a body to fill the ranks. I applaud President Trump for his love and respect of our soldiers. It wasn't always that way. Twenty years and sufficient points is a complete career, and you can retire with great benefits according to your performance in the military. Jackson and BigT 1 1
