Ulysses Man Charged In Death Of 5 Year Old Child

• State police in Coudersport investigated an allegation of child abuse from the Potter County Children and Youth Services. The allegation indicated that a known 5-year-old boy arrived at UPMC Cole hospital on July 2nd , 2024 in cardiac arrest. The victim was stabilized and transferred to Children's Hospital in Danville.

 

The boy died on July 22nd as a direct result of the incident. The Coroner's office was contacted and assisted with the investigation. The victim's death was slater ruled as a homicide.

 

Interview were conducted and revealed that Andrew Jefffers, 30 of Ulysses, was supervising the victim and three other children on July 2nd. During this time, Jeffers is alleged to have assaulted the victim causing him to sustain intercranial hemorrhages.

 

Jeffers was taken into custody and faces several charges including murder in the first degree.
