Polo Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 I did a little searching today on Find a Grave.com. A photo of the grave of an Abraham Lian, 1883 - 1952, was pictured. He would have been 68 or 69 when he died. The grave was in the Saint Catherine Cemetery in DuBois, PA. A man by the name of Edison B. Waite, Jr., had photographed it. He had a camp in this area at the time and had photographed many graves around here between 2007 and 2013. If Abraham Lian was the store owner, he probably had the store in the early to mid 1900's. If he wasn't the owner, perhaps he was a close family member of the owner, as his initials are the same.
Petee Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Doesn't the library keep City Books of who lived and worked here in years past? Polo 1
BigT Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 The Historical Society has City Directories dating back to the late 1800's. Unfortunately we are only open on Thursday's for 2 hours. I will check next week to see what I can find out. Pappy, BillyC and Polo 1 2
BigT Posted January 8 Posted January 8 A. Lian was in business from 1926 till 1951 as best as I can tell. His first name may have been Abraham, the City Directories only listed him as Abr. His wife was Alice and a daughter was Jane. They had 3 different homes from 1926 till 1952- 431 W. Long Ave - 1926 till 1943. 421 Spruce Alley, 1944 to 1948 and 14 S. State St. 1948 to 1953?? Polo 1
